Lightroom Classic crashes

After several years of good performance, my LRC is now crashing several times every day (past two weeks). Adobe agent conversations have not helped. After two hours of chat with an agent, NADA. He had me make adjustments to my computer graphics card which he thought was the problem. Needless to say, it didn't work. Also, I get a message from Adobe every crash, saying an error has occured, send my contact info, and they will be back to me.
Have never heard back. I am ready to switch to another program, but hate the idea of learning a new system. Any suggestions?

Rollback to an earlier version of LR Classic. If unsure how to perform that function, direct that question to your next Adobe chat support agent. This is another feature of your Adobe subscription.

Through the CC app, click on the three dots right of the "Open" button. You will get a choice of previous versions. You may have to go to a backup catalog that was current with that previous version.

You don't mention HD or PC specs. Besides rolling back, have you considered adding more storage and/or RAM?
I have found that sudden new crashes are often caused by lack of adequate workspace or RAM or video card size as file sizes grow. Are you on LRC subscription or running an old 6.0 version?

After an update to LRC or you OS? A couple of times I had to roll back to an earlier version of Windows, or a date before an OS update. Even now when Microsoft rolls out an update, Things can seem a little slow running for a while when it comes to my photos in LR & Pictures Library. Fastone Image Viewer seems to keep moving rite along when I use it for culling imports & viewing from my Pictures folders.

Irm, I had the same problem and, like you, 2 hours on the phone with Adobe tech support failed to fix the problem. He also thought the issue was in my graphic card and did an update (which I had previously done) by removing the existing and reinstalling the current version. When he could not unfreeze the program once the newest AI adjustment features were used, he said he would have to call back in three days.

The second technician was a different person who went through the same steps with reinstalling the graphics driver latest update. But this time he also went into the settings on the driver and changed a communication setting that was aimed at Lightroom. Sorry I cannot tell you more specifically, but I could not keep up with all the quick movements he was making. However, he did get the LR Classic working again. I did dozens of edits afterwards.

A lot of catalogs and LR versions were being copied, deleted, and reinstalled. He inadvertently deleted all the files
from my LR6 catalog in the process and was pretty ashamed to tell me--although I was aware enough of what he was doing to see him do it. I was able to bring him some relief when I told him I had a backup on a remote hard drive, which he used to put back on my desktop. So, whatever you are doing, be sure you you have ALL catalogs backed up on remote before letting some one start doing any repairs to your LR.

That second call lasted 2-1/2 hours, but it did serve to recover the performance on my LR Classic program, so don't assume that one man's failure means there is no hope for your system. Keep trying. If one tech isn't sounding helpful, try a different person.

How old is your computer? My laptop started acting up. Talking about it with a friend, she asked me the same question. That was when I realized it was 10 years old. She told me it was time for a new one before something went terribly wrong. Given that she’s head of cyber security at a major company, I took her advice.

Before you update any software, it is a good idea to make a backup of the current version with a slightly modified file name. Since it is too late for you to use this approach, try using Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) which is the front end of Photoshop. ACR and Lr use the same processing engine but have a slightly different user interface. No guarantee that this will solve your problem but it is worth a try, especially if you are one or more versions behind in your version of Photoshop.

It's not your PC. Plenty of space and speed. Working from latest version of LR? How big are your camera files?

20,000 photos averaging between 20-45 mp. It seems that the problems began with the latest upgrade to LRC. Neve a problem until three weeks ago +- when I upgraded from 12.2 to 13 (or from 13 to 13.1--not sure)

Hardware is fine, and have uninstalled and reinstalled five times to no avail
