Purchase and use a calibration device such as Datacolor’s Spyder X Pro.

There is not enough information in the question.
First be aware that most displays are set way too bright for effective editing.
The only way to know for sure is to calibrate regularly with a reliable instrument
Calibration evaluates more than just brightness.
For best results you will want an IPS display that allows hardware calibration

What monitor? Some can be calibrated; some can't. Did the monitor come with a reference manual? As a last resort, contact customer service for your monitor and ask them how to calibrate it.
