Welcome To Cisco Utah

Hadn't exactly planned to stop while en route to Colorado yesterday, but the mixed metaphors expressed in this most recent of (the slightly off, like almost 20-30 yards!) down-town Cisco's "art projects" piqued my interest. And, of course, because it's across the road from the (not quite) world famous 'Buzzard's Belly General Store'. Which was closed anyway.

As well, Eileen --the Queen Emperess & Chief Bottlewasher of Cisco-- wasn't home.

And I'd bet ANY amount of money that there were numerous passengers in those westward-flying aircraft who had their LONG lenses on, their IBIS kicked in, and their ISO circling the bowl as they shot shot after shot (spray & pray style with the newbies, full manual & one at a time [so as to get the ***best*** compositions without bothering to get all that extraneous drek in between] with the hi-flyin' Pros) while on their way to a shoot --or a show?-- in 'Vegas? this DaVinci-esque/Mondrian-ial/Michaelangelo's 'David'-ly installation as well. Go ahead!, try to prove me wrong! Muahahahaha...........

I accept PayPal.

Graboids moved out/died out (in the downtown Cisco environment) back during the last (major) glacial period, Long. Apparently, there weren't enuf railroaders/'ladies of the night'/passers-through to I-70 for 'em to feed on or even harass to make stayin' around worth the hassle.

Five miles down the road, though.... the wary wanderer IS strongly advised to be on a keen watch for 'em. They aren't called 'graboids' for nothing.

I saw one back in 1961. I thought it was just another Common Sandworm and kept on driving.

I see the urban sprawl hasn't increased much since the last time I visited in 2004.

Yeah. When I saw it, my first reaction was to groan a little at the obviousness of the rip-off of the Cadillac Ranch thing. I didn't initially stop --the unoriginality and ripped-offedness being painfully blatant-- but circled back around and stopped after noticing the two (well known in rock art circles) misappropriated figures painted on the Caddy's roof, which made me groan again, only louder.

I expect the Caddy will be all painted over with hipster/faux 'gangsta' tags by the next time I go by. Which might be an improvement. We'll see....

Sure you weren't in New Mexico? Oh wait, there aren't enough bullet holes in the car and sign.

Hmmm. Don't think I was in Newt Messico, Feral. I mean, hey, I didn't consult Google Maps to get here or anything.

The paucity of bullet holes IS rather mystifying though!!!1!

Oh, there has indeed been some sprawl, alberio. But it's the sort of urban sprawl I'm sure most of us can abide with.

I mean, hey, who among us doesn't appreciate a Gucci Outlet Store? Or a McDonald's? Or a Five Star Resort & (Members Only/Private) Golf Club & Spa?

(Advance seatings for the Prada Room in the McDonald's can be made on-line now. Before, when it was only first come/first served (or palming the maƮtre d' a crisp Benjamin or two upon arrival), getting one of the *prime* tables for a brunch or dinner seating was soooooo iffy!)
