I post to get guidance and help from those more experienced and informed. I also enjoy seeing the photos of others and getting to read the reviews and comments about them. Nice place to learn and maybe provide some comments that hopefully help others, too.

I enjoy yours and others posts. I learn quite a lot from all you guys and it helps me take pictures I believe are better than I used to and as I scan through the posts on UHH I always stop at yours and others.

AS much as I enjoy visiting with people who love the same thing, I also love seeing places I'll never see in person and looking at gorgeous photos that should be huge prints hanging on a wall or in a famous photo gallery somewhere!

Example:
We lived in Poland Springs, but we couldnt drink the water. Fortunately my uncle ran a cider mill and my aunt never touched water (as per W.C. Fields example), and my baby cousin just drank mostly milk.

From Poland Springs to Buckfield we go right thru South Paris. If Ida known I was gonna crash the car in Buckfield I coulda picked up an accident report form in South Paris along the way.

This chit chat sounds like the old "Bert and I" humor which has been carried on in similar ways by current Maine comedians (Like Tim Sample) https://youtu.be/sIJBUZm1HoY?si=UUD3oPmiAgYEVx4l And no matter how long one lives here, if you weren't born here, you'll always be labeled as "from away". I'm familiar with all the places you've mentioned "UserID"

And this is another reason I like to post, have "met" folks from all over the world and even my own "backyard"

I post photographs for many reasons. First let me explain, I am a picture taker. I take spur of the moment shots in field situations that most people call snap shots. I am not, and never want to be, considered a photographer.

I post because my ego needs stroking. I post things that I find interesting that others may too. I post because occasionally I can bring someone joy or get a chuckle out of them.

I am also an image creator. I take several images, often from different sources, combine them to produce a picture. Please take note of my terminology, I take images and combine them into a picture, not a photograph.

I post in several Forums. Where I post depends on the subject. Photographs generally go in Photo Gallery or Birds where they get the most looks (remember ego). Occasionally a photograph will go to one of the Specialty Forums where I hope to get honest critiques, my ego be damned, in an attempt to improve my skills.

Composite pictures generally go to one of the Specialty Forms for meaningful critiques of my effort. If I create a composite that I think is really cool I may post it to Picture Gallery (remember ego). Occasionally I will construct a composite that has a "social message". Being careful not to cross the line and get moved to The Attic I will post it in the Photo Gallery

Well, let's see.... I've always enjoyed trying new things. I was a math teacher and also volunteered to be the yearbook advisor. My lead photographer got me in the darkroom and gave me a few lessons that got me started on photography. I also worked with Big Brothers and formed a lasting relationship with Wes. When we moved I did the same with a group called Kinship Partners. During that time I got certified to do SCUBA diving but, not having an ocean close, I lost interest.
Over the years I've owned 5 different Corvettes. I also got interested in flying and took lessons. The day after I received my license I rented a Cessna 150 Tail Dragger and we flew around the Western US. Eventually we bought a couple of planes and my wife got her license also. Before I retired we sold our plane and bought a very small place on a lake. It was just a shell so I spent 2 summers working in it; wiring, plumbing, new roof, siding, etc. Many of my photos are taken through the living room window, a single pane of glass measuring 12ft. by 5.5ft. That window is what influenced the increased use of my camera during the years since.
I post to share some of the wonders that we've seen over the years. I really enjoy the amazing creativity and expertise of the UHH posters!!

UHH was my first online forum of any type. I had no idea how the user name is displayed on every posting, hence my inclusion of "from Maine" even though I'd been living in Washington State 10 years already

I enjoy being inspired by those with more talent than I have, and I enjoy a bit of mentoring and advising others. I enjoy constructive feedback coming from pov's that I hadn't considered, and I enjoy ego-stroking when it's a photo or creation I'm proud of.

At this stage of life, online photo clubs are far more desirable than going out in the evening, in the dark and bad weather, to sit in a room full of people where I don't have the option to close the browser or click unwatch

Linda's contribution as usual makes a LOT of sense. I also enjoyed the honesty in the original posting, I think he hit is spot on. I don't post a lot as I don't consider my picture to be equal in quality to most of what is posted. And if I post I do it for the same reasons as mentioned.
