Bay Photo. Send a brilliant photo and pick a size (I got 5x7). For a modest price, they will send you a sampler with 6 different finishes. Make your selections from those for your enlargements.

Are you discussing paper prints perhaps? OP was asking about metal. I think the Bay sample pack is for paper finishes.

Bay for me. Lots of places produce good metal prints, but I find their customer service to be outstanding if a problem crops up.

Exactly...I second this comment from Rick from NY.

There are prints on metallic papers, and then there are prints on real sheets of metal. If you want metal, it’s much more expensive.

I am not certain as to what part of reality eludes you. I simply proffered my opinion. YOU came back with YOUR opinion that MPIX is good - and I am not disputing that...only that in MY OPINION Aluminyze is better. And then you went off on a tear somehow accusing me of arguing with you...have some camomile tea, pal - calm down.

Oh, and as for "showing you" - how the heck can that be done? Want to come to see the dozens of prints I have including some at a couple of local restaurants? Or ones I sold from said restaurants? Ignore me - I don't care - the world doesn't care - if you want to satisfy yourself get a print from Aluminyze to compare with one from MPIX...whatever. But you need to calm down.

Customer service is very important!! I will say the 2-3 things I had go wrong with MPIX they had it taken care of the next day, reprints or whatever. Thanks BESAFE!!

I assumed the OP was speaking about metal prints.

What struck me is that you have experience with several vendors and like one over the others but don’t say WHY other than you like it better. Perhaps try to be more descriptive such as brighter colors, etc. you cant post samples but at least be descriptive.

It’s like saying one car is better than the other without a narrative.

Burk. You’ve been in this game professionally for a long time. What’s your preference and why? I’m asking because I’m going to do a few metal prints.

Thx

The problem is, "metal prints" means prints on metallic-appearing paper to some photo labs. Printing on real metal is an entirely different process.

Always ask... The lab I worked for years ago made prints on Kodak Metallic Paper. No metal sheeting was involved. Yet people described them as "metal prints." Not.

Nah, on UHH you have to sort the wheat from the chafe. Its like the wild west here except all the gunfighters have keyboards and most are AARP members. But I am interested in the opinions of a few folks because I intend to order some metal prints here soon. I previously used a vendor, CG Pro, and liked their product. Right now an 11x14 is $50.

https://vividmetalprints.com/ is a company in Lexington, NC, just down the road from me. They specialize in printing ON metal with aluminum dye-sublimation. Check them out! They have been around for 20 years. Dye sub is an old process known for its saturated colors.

I was looking at MPIX but went with Pictorem. Not only did I find their Chromelux HD sublimation impressive, but they will do custom sizes. That’s important to me because I often crop to non-standard aspect ratios.
