A New Happy Place

Recently, someone suggested eating at a restaurant at a local marina. Deciding to eat on the outdoor deck, our table sat directly next to the lake. I had difficulty focusing on dinner as ducks floated gracefully by, and several casually flew in and waddled around. After dinner, I said goodbye and grabbed my camera. As I was photographing a duck graciously posing, I heard a voice teasingly ask: “What did he do?” I found later it was a fellow photographer asking who lives at the marina. He was great, told me the best spots to photograph, and then took me on a private tour of the docks. Birds, ducks, and turtles, oh my! It’s my new happy place, especially now that I have the access codes to all the docks!

It's a photographer's paradise if you enjoy this sort of wildlife.

And yes, I know there is a category for birds, but I decided to include these as a group to provide the total experience.

You will see a poorly focused Great Blue Heron. It's a gorgeous bird I've now had the privilege to photograph several times, so I will post "Henri" shortly and another friend I've named Simon in the bird category. It's a new challenge for me from my squirells, so there's been some new learning and hopefully as I post you can see some of my progress.

Great set. Ducks around here usually don't get this close. Probably need to go to a local park with a pond.

Yeah, it's a treat. I think because they live in a cove with a restaurant, they are used to people. It helps!
