Great Suitcase

I watched a YouTube video the other day, and the guy did a plug for his sponsor, the maker of a beautiful, aluminum suitcase. As he described it, I guessed at the price - probably $400. At the end of his presentation, he said that clicking on his link would get you a $300 discount on this piece of luggage.

I wasn't sure of the brand, but I tracked it down. https://sterlingpacific.com/products/sterling-pacific-35l-cabin-carry-on-travel-case-luggage

I saw that also. He even commented that he could not use that case for his work travel because his airline mandated that pilots use black luggage. He must be making Bank from his YouTube and Airline gigs.

Looks like when you guessed at the price you needed to put a 1 in front of the 4.

That would look pretty sweet being unloaded from my Bentley and rolling it across the lobby of my hotel on the way to my 650.00 dollar-a-night room! None of this is within my budget though and it is the only way I would use a case like this even if it were in my budget. There is no way I would trust a case like this to an airline! I use high-impact plastic cases that do very well for airline travel. Back a few years ago I encouraged my wife to purchase a set of high-impact cases but she chose a cloth-sided model instead. On her second flight, it sustained an 8" rip along the side of a front pocket. Airline travel is brutal and I can only imagine the dents and scratches an aluminum case would be subject to.

Yes, and I can understand that. I bought a nice carry-on years ago. I forget the brand, but I noticed that flight crews had the same one. I guess I made a good choice. TravelPro.

My Lady and I always have bought the Tumi brand of luggage. The cases are soft side (heavy canvas) and they have all the pockets and dividers that I need. They are also guaranteed for the life of the suitcase and if anything gets torn, broken or damaged by the airlines, they will fix or replace it at no charge. We’ve had torn sides, busted zippers, broken handles and one wheel problem that all it took was to send it to the customer service center (at our cost) and they fixed the items and returned it in perfect condition.
If what you prefer is the hard cases, they have those also. The price per piece goes from $700 to $1500, but you will not have to buy another one for your lifetime. I’ve had mine for over 25 years now.

I have several fiberglass cases RCA used to ship TV cameras in. They are super light, incredibly strong, waterproof and O ringed, complete with pressure relief valve. They also have hasps for locks, but you must use TSA approved locks. The largest one has wheels. They’re not stylish (gray), but damn near impervious to everything EXCEPT getting lost by the airlines.

At that price it better come with the airline tickets, spending cash and clothes! 😁😁

Yes, everyone remembers that. My only problem with luggage was a pull handle that got broken off. The airline paid to have it repaired. Of course, that meant that I had to drive an hour each way to the shop to bring it and then pick it up. Still, it was made good as new. Now, my only luggage is a carry-on backpack.

I have still two of Leeds fold over suitcases. Going to a next duty station with a seabag a smaller one and the big suitcase loaded for all it was worth. I picked it up and all I got was the handle, S#%@×&# , only as a sailor can swear. Leaving early next morning, quick fix industrial strength coat hanger wire saved the day. Still on there.
