I took my kids to the south rim of the Grand Canyon over the summer. It was the first time I've been there. I was hoping for good views and some interesting weather, and the Canyon exceeded my expectations. We were only there for two days, but they were perfect.
Heavy haze filled the Canyon, making everything blush with light. This mostly prevented sharp photos at a distance, but made for a magical, misty, fairy tail glow. It rained during the afternoon we were there, offsetting the Arizona heat. The kids were troupers, getting up much earlier than teenagers want to see the glory.
Here are a few from the sunrise.
Excellent work, Jared! A few wall hangers there, as well as memories forever.
Thanks for the thumb, Gabyto.

Thanks, Mike. I was actually expecting to be a little underwhelmed by the canyon because I've seen so many, but it was definitely worth the visit. And seeing and hearing the kids' reactions was a treat. As you say, memories forever.

Beautiful photos, and the lighting is magical!
I hope to be there in April, 2024. It isn't rousting the kids out of bed early, that worries me... it is my wife!

Thanks, Doug. Ironically, I’m hoping to be in Arkansas in April for the eclipse, so we’ll trade sections of the country. 😄
Alas, my wife elected to stay home from this trip to continue preparing our old house for sale. I hope your time in the canyon is as good as ours was.
Thanks for the visit, Longshadow.

Shooter41, the little rock wren just stopped by the post for a visit. I think he(?) was getting a better view of the ground to find his next snacking place.
