I've had a mustache ever since my army days back in the 70's then grew my beard after getting out, it's so much easier than shaving.

Mustache in various forms over the years since 1977. I usually shave it off once a year just to see if wife notices. It used to be jet black. Now it is snow white. Darn.

I quit shaving in 1967, but have shaved twice for roles as an actor, growing it back soon after. My wife of 43.5 years prefers my beard and mustache, as do my daughters and granddaughter.

Beards are a fashion statement (at least in modern days) that come and go over time. Remember the late 60’s and 70s? Long hair, long sideburns or muttonchops, and beards were faddish back then. They soon faded away. A few years back the cool guys started showing three or four days beard growth and it became fashionable for young men. I read somewhere that women ranked men with three day old beard growth as the coolest and sexiest - they evidently hadn’t seen me with a three day growth (a derelict drifter look that does not compliment me at all!). DT Jr and Eric are a couple other guys that need to lose that look. The full beards we are seeing these days on young men will hopefully run its course soon. Those guys will soon be old enough that they won’t want to look like their decrepit, unkempt Grandpaw.

I totally agree about Dt Jr and Eric. They look like child predators - creepy as he!!. Personally, as a woman, I have always preferred men to be clean-shaven. Pre-marriage, I did date men with mustaches, but my husband of 30 years (R.I.P.) was clean shaven - by choice. He did sport a Tim McGraw look for a few weeks; he rocked it but was relieved to go back to the clean look. So was I.

I prefer clean-shaven. Sooo glad that silly "soul patch" under the lip nonsense finally ran it's course. If a guy wearing a soul patch approached me for a date, I would turn away.

lol!
Miami Vice saw the introduction of the 'Miami Device' to maintain the perfect derelict/child predator/defendant vibe.

I would turn down any guy who asked me for a date. 😁

I didn't know that patch had a name. Yes, I'm glad it's gone, too.

I got really lazy way back in about 1978 (grade 12) and stopped shaving ... have had beard + moustache ever since. Have only shaved it off twice in all that time, once in about 1982 (trying to look less "scruffy" for a summer job interview) and then again in the early 1990s. That second time my wife took one look at me without the facial hair and immediately said "grow it back ASAP." I was deeply hurt until she told me why ... apparently, without the beard/moustache she thought I looked just like my dad, and she did not want to wake up in the morning and think she was in bed with my dad. I grew it back!

I have a close-cropped goatee right now. I've had some type of facial hair for most of my adult life but usually kept it short since I spent so much time behind a welding mask

Mustache and beard ever since I could grow one.
I look like a total geek without one.

Okay, if neatly trimmed. I see guys with ratty long mustaches hanging down over their lip and cringe. I can't even imagine all the bacteria hanging in there.
