A recent visit to Boston gave me the chance to take the first picture. Not an arborist so this was not familiar to me as a resident across the pond. Aspen?
The second is from Loweswater in the Lake district
P.10 - That #2 is superb capture !

It's no wonder I never get housework done .I get easily distracted by photo subjects. Tried dusting last week and there was this brown, shriveled "frond" sitting on a hutch. Hadn't been there before or I'd have noticed it. Good bye dusting hello photo fun...
You've done it again, Pat, with a wonderful set. Thanks for hosting this terrific challenge. There have been so many outstanding entries, it's difficult to comment on all of them individually: yours have been spectacular, Rufe had one in a group that blew me away (his number 4), Lee, Karin, Irv and so many others. I have some leaf photos I need to find, and I'll be back.

Three from yesterday - just managed to beat the city roadside pick-up! Wow - and that was November 13, with still no meaningful frost, as you can see from the green roses, left of the last image. Radiant heat from the house helps too, of course. Sadly, measures of climate change; I remember 50 years ago, we used to reckon on a first frost second week of September, and snow flurries mid October but I don't know when that last happened, and it seems to get later every year now. I think last year's pick-up was Nov 5.

Of course we don't have very much that has turned down here yet but I do have some in the archives for later.
