With all due respect it would seem you forgot the USMC, neither airmen, sailors or soldiers. Yes we are a part of the Navy but we sure as hell are not sailors. We would be the Men's Department.

Just passengers as far as the Sailors are concerned!!

I've never been a veteran, so I am one of those who doesn't understand what veterans feel, but I have always believed that out country should take some of the money foolishly spent and take care of our veterans before anything else. Housing, food, clothing, not just a free cup of coffee and doughnuts now and then. After all. the veterans take care of us!!!!

Jo I thank you for your comment and agree with all my heart. I see our veterans among the homeless, needing medical care, jobless and so on. Of any group of people in this great country veterans should never suffer any of these things happening to them. I am not saying veterans should get a free ride on everything. But I am saying that before this country spends one penny on illegal aliens, Affirmative Action for minorities, putting other homeless people in shelters, veterans should come first. Not all veterans are combat veterans but they are still veterans who signed their name on a check saying they will go into a combat situation and give their life if necessary. Those people and all veterans deserve America's thanks in more than just empty words but monetary help if needed.

I forget the actual percentage but it is said from 1-3% of America's population join the military. What a small number of our population that puts their lives on hold for years at a time to keep America safe. I generally wear some type of USMC clothing, either a T shirt or a hat signifying my pride at being a combat Marine. I can't tell you how many people come up to me and thank me for my service. It is always appreciated. But the other side of the coin is the number of young men and women who tell me, I thought of joining the Marine Corps, I still think of it. My general comment back is, Yeah, I get that a LOT. Many have good intentions and yet fail to deliver. But wars are not won by people who are wannabe's. Wars are won by people who actually step up to make a difference, who are willing to put their lives on the line when asked to do so. Those who only think about serving don't really count for anything.

Thank you,

Dennis

Thank you for recognizing the immeasurable value rendered by the willingness of individuals to step up to something bigger than themselves and speak for freedom for all.
