Hi all,

I am rather new to photography and I am looking for some help. I have been told that sure the auto function is nice but really doesn't let you explore what my d7000 can do. Does anyone know of a good website or book/article I can read to start using the full potential of my camera.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Two great books are:
- Mastering the Nikon D7000 from Darrell Young...a lot more valuable information than the book published by Nikon.
- Nikon D7000 From Snapshots to Great Shots from John Batdorff
I agree with donnz, Bryan Peterson's Understanding Exposure is a must.

Enjoy!

Hi ctimms,
I have the D7000 and I got the David Busch's "Nikon D7000 guide to Digital SLR Photography". Everything laid out logically and lots of info. Worth getting.

Regards

Gerry

Look at Thom Hogan's site http://www.bythom.com/nikond7000guide.htm. I have his manual for my D70S and it covers not only the how, but also the why.

Hi ctimms, welcome to the hog…don't own a Nikon so I can't help you there. But as you have probably come to realize there is much help and advice here. And I couldn't help noticing where you live…welcome aboard neighbor.

Here's a free version of the D7000 guide that you can keep on your computer. http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/d7000/users-guide/

Also, get the free app Nikon Manual Viewer. It lets you load any Nikon manual onto a device and carry it with you.

Nikon Learn and Explore is worth getting, too. It's lots of sales pitch, but it also has useful info. I have Nikon Spots, buy I forget exactly what that is.

There is a tremendous amount of free material to go through before you start buying things that might not be as good as you thought they would be.
