Just curious - How many of you (men, only) have a mustache or beard of any kind? I had a mustaches for decades, and then I shaved it off. Now, I have a mustaches and chin whiskers. Since Covid, many more men have beards.

Had a beard before boot camp ( Navy ) in 67, mustache 68-69. Full beard rest of enlistment, ended 71. Kept the beard almost constantly until now, that's 55 years almost 60 counting before boot camp. Not blond as in the begining, just grey.

I begin to grow a goatee the first day of Fall, and shave it off the 1st day of Spring

I have had a mustache since 20 years old(1970) except for a few months in basic training. I had a beard for a while until there was too much gray and it made me look older.

Full facial since 1968 after move to CA but I do keep it neatly trimmed now in SC for last two. Head hair changed from very short to quite long in grad school, added headband for years as museum curator, then back to just not quite so long, and now relatively short. Cut my own for most of that time, but gotten lazy lately and get the head cut every 6 weeks with partial selfies between, still always do my own quickie beard trim every couple of days. Just got tired of shaving every day. No fad, just comfortable.

I don’t typically try to grow and keep a beard. I have frequently not shaven during extended holidays, but I have decided against that and the reason is, my beard is white. As it grows in for the first couple of weeks, it look terrible. And because it is white, it makes me look much older than I am. Not an attractive sight and especially to my wife, my kids and of people of the opposite sex. I need all the help I can get, and this does not help me! So I shave.

The year was 2000 had a log beard which was snow white and was in the middle of the chest. Children would often call me Santa Claus. When I was asked to play Santa at our Holiday Party I am glad l did not turn it down.

I had several similar experiences. One I remember was in a restaurant, a little girl (5-ish) said "It's Santa". I stopped, kneeled down and chatted with her for a few seconds, and said I was on vacation, but not to worry, I'd be back to the N Pole in plenty of time for Christmas. They left, and the father came back inside and shook my hand. Good for the heart!

I don't, but mostly because I can't even stand having my hair tickle my ears. I'm more sensitive than the princess of pea fame.

That is one of the dangers of full beards, particularly when the color starts to disappear.

My wife didn't like it when I came back from a camping trip with stache and beard. Soooooo. I don't wear facial hair.

When I first got out of high school I wouldn't grow a beard in the winter shave it off at Easter time and let it be in to grow again in October. I am 80 years old now and it's been with me continuously for something over 50 years. Expect I won't go to my grave with it.

I grew my full beard in 1968, the year I began teaching college. Two reasons:

1. To make me look older than my students, and
2. I hated shaving.

When I retired a few years ago #1 had long since ceased being an issue. #2 remains, as does the beard.

I've been clean shaven all my life. Still shave most days even though I'm 77-YO.
It's because of something my father said when I was young. He Said, "When a man has a bierd or a mustache, he always has something to eat."
It took me a minute or so to understand, but I haven't harbored a desire for facial hair since then.

Nope.....free of facial hair. No desire to do it...and more importantly...the wife said no.

A happy wife is a happy life! :D
