These are some great images. I always hate to hear about the loss of a good friend. Max was a beautiful fellow and I am sure his loss hurts.

Thank you very much RodeoMan. I have conveyed the sorrows of members here. I only knew Max for a week and his passing caused my eyes to need a good cleaning.

Thank you topcat. Your comments are always appreciated.

For someone who was raised with farm dogs this was a difficult post. It is clear to me from your images of him, that Max was a great guy. That last picture of him riding in the tire, no doubt his spot, is one to keep. You probably have heard the Mark Twain quote about dogs and heaven : "Heaven goes by favor. If it went by merit, you would stay out and your dog would go in". I agree with that to a point. I think that if there is a heaven, humans and their pets will both be there continuing their connection. How could it be otherwise?

Thank you RodeoMan for a great comment. Yes I have heard the Mark Twain quote and agree pretty much as you do. That tire was Max' spot for a truck ride. I spoke to the owner yesterday and today. He is doing as well as can be expected. He is hoping to find another dog as he needs a cattle dog to keep track of the cows. I hope to see him again in January. Hopefully he will have one by then.

Thanks very much Brenda for stopping by and commenting. Unfortunately Max succumbed from his injuries. Just this morning the owner called me and said he had another puppy he thinks will make a great cattle dog. He never did find out who ran over Max.

Of course you are welcome Brenda. I continue to think Max is in a better place and is free of any pain and suffering.
