Theres always that "if". No hey problemo.

I was shooting spiders at 3am (they live on lighting fixtures) when someone asked if I could show them a picture. Clearly they did NOT think I was using film !

I guess they liked the pix, cuz the reaction was "Yo, thaz one really dope lens !"

You were taking photos of spiders at 3:00 in the morning and there was somebody else around who asked you to see your pictures? Maybe I'm paranoid being a big city kid, but my first thought would be he was trying to steal my camera.

The Z fc and Z50 are less then half the price of the Zf. They both have essentially the same crop sensor. The sensor of the Zf is full frame and is superior to the Z fc and Z50 sensors. The build of the Zf is also far superior. As a result it is slightly bigger and much heavier than the Z fc. The Z fc weighs approximately 15 oz, while the Zf weighs closer to 24 oz,

You can use the lenses.
You will need an adapter.
If they require a body drive operate then they will be only manual AF. If they have an aperture lever to operate the aperture the aperture will not work and must be manually adjusted.
But they will mount with limited operability.
You will be right at home with the Zfc and Zf trying to look retro as you will be doing the lens operations all manually if the above is true.

As was discussed in a separate conversation here, the Nikon Z adaptor does, in fact, have a mechanical aperture actuator lever. It will operate "non-E" lenses just fine.

Lens with aperture ring but with CPU then you can set the aperture ring to minimum and control the aperture from the camera. Lens without CPU then the aperture must be set via the apeture ring.

Are you sure?
You might want to verify that.
All literature states clearly that there is NO aperture lever in the FTZ adapter.
Owners here will confirm that or you can look it up or look at photos.

Yes there is the aperture level and a motor to operate it and thus no more room for the AF motor.

The FTZ has no aperture actuator in it.
You seem dazed and confused.

...no, you have to use the adapter (FTZ) and that's a cost. But, if you get the Z50 with the 2 kit lenses (a 16/24 and a 50/250) it will provide great shots for your trip...and be light and small. I own that combo, along with a Z6II and a Z9, and find myself using it alot!

...yes, the adapter is only to provide the proper flange distance to the sensor on the Z camera. There is absolutely no motor, either.

...no lever on mine! Do you have one *with* a lever?

On the back side of a large apartment block, anyone youd encounter most likely lives there, and is arriving home from doing whatever folks usually do at 2 to 3 am when not out shooting spiders.

IOW its not an uncertain situation and not along a public thoroughfare ... and if someone is possibly being intrusive its me, not them.

You indicate that youre sometimes paranoid ? Then perhaps Im something that youd avoid.
