Well, think about it: I have the Z50, which is an APS-C, and the Z8, which is full frame, and of course, has crop mode. I can even shoot square format if I want to, so I guess I don't have to look for a new Mamiya TLR that I loved so much. I have all of that and more in one body whenever I want it. What do I really need with a Z50?

We had an RV but it got to be too much trouble and expense to use it, so we sold it. Now I had a Chevy 2500HD that I didn't need. I sold it too, because I also have a very serviceable Ford Ranger that I have had for almost 27 years and while they are very different trucks, the Ranger is all I need for what I use a truck for. I see no point in having a bunch of vehicles cluttering up the place, costing money to maintain and insure, when I have what I need in the small truck. It's the same with cameras...

Same with my 2008 Grand Cherokee with over 250K miles and people think that it is new.
No dents, scratches or paint fading or rust.

I can't say the same for the '97 Ranger. it's my work truck. The chemicals from Minnesota roads in the winter, and the subsequent exposure to Arizona sun has taken its toll on the paint and underbody, but mechanically, it could be two years old.

PA is rough but washing every 2-3 days in winter and keeping it in the carriage house when not in use makes a huge difference. Work is done with a corporate car.

If you’re likely to be doing some cropping use the Z7. If you’re gonna be shooting in low light, the Z6.
With me it’s either the Z9, Z7 or OM-1. The Z9 and OM-1 either split or share most of the time with the Z7 mostly being used for specialty stuff, Lensbaby, etc. Actually my Sony RX10MIV gets a good amount of use too. It’s my kayak camera and I shoot from a kayak quite a bit.

As the owner of 5 Z bodies, I chose what I need for the job I'm doing. I rarely take less than two bodies for any job, paid or personal. I use the Z9s for sports, the Z8 for portraits and other work where I want large files and the Z6s for ENG/PJ. Best of luck.

I have every camera ever made, all set permanently to a specific f/stop or shutter speed. Of course, since there are different combinations of aperture and shutter speed I have 50 or so of each model camera to cover all the combinations. I just change cameras when the light changes or there is action to stop or blur. Much more convenient than fiddling around changing settings. I am now considering getting another 1,000 or so that I can cover more ISOs. I admit that I have missed a shot occasionally while rummaging around looking through the 300 semis that follow me everywhere carrying the cameras for the one with the right setting.

Does Lightroom have a module that can track cameras and which trailer they are stored in for instant access in the field?

If I had a much larger GAS budget, I would definitely have multiple systems - Nikon (FF), Fuji (APSC & MF), and Olympus (M4/3) along with a set of about 6-8 lenses for each. I would use whichever brand/model suited my subjects, environment and mood the best.

What do you shoot? Probably use the macro focus stacking & video. Another would be one with a long lens for wildlife & one for macro or a wide angle while hiking. Something like that is what would do if I had both of them not having to change lenses out in the field maybe in dusty or windy conditions. Just a thought since you asked. Happy shooting.

Mostly, street photography, public events, macro (not lately, need to get some macro lenses), birds, flowers, nature. I have almost all the lenses I need...adding macro and another tele zoom perhaps in the near future, along with some related accessories.

Do you hire your semi drivers directly? I've never driven one and I've got terrible cataracts and can barely see but it sounds like a great gig. Would love to drive the truck with pin-hole or Kodak Brownies. Please keep me in mind

Do you have a current CDL? Also, I only hire union drivers...

Now having both cameras I find that I am favoring the new baby Z7ii over the Z6ii which I have now for about a year. I know both are similar except for resolution 45 vs 24 MP, fps 10 vs 14, file sizes, lack of AA filter on the Z7ii.
When would you use one over the other (use cases), especially for those that have both cameras? Does going back to the Z6ii feel like a letdown, after shooting with the Z7ii for a while?

I traded my Z6 for a Z7ii about a year ago. I got it primarily for the SD card, which I use as my primary. But I've appreciated some of its features a lot.

My current kit (Z7ii, Z50, and two lenses for each plus 200-500) could be my last new stuff. Healthy at 76 but I can see not far over the horizon.

As a practical matter, I've found myself grabbing my Z50 much more often than the Z7ii. Mostly due to size and weight plus the 250 kit lens and APS C sensore makes it better for modest telephoto than my 24-200. Although recently it is getting left behind for my iPhone 14 plus.
