"Real Housewife" Shannon Beador pleaded no contest to DUI and $24,000 of property damage and got off with probation. I guess it pays to be famous.

“The defendant stated they needed to be careful because she was part of a television show, The Real Housewives of Orange County,” Deputy District Attorney Dang Vu wrote about what Beador allegedly told the officer. “The defendant said the current incident could not be made public or put on social media.”

I am so glad that I'm not famous. "Rich and famous" might sound appealing to some people, but not to me. I wouldn't mind being rich, but fame can be a nightmare.

Probation is not unusual for a DUI. I'm sure she also had to pay compensation for the damage. In Texas, the third DUI is a felony and mandatory prison time. It doesn't matter how long apart they are.

In the local newspaper, I read about DUI people every day. They are given a ticket to appear in court. "Released to a third party." As for repeat offenders, I guess they keep fining them until they kill someone.

I don't know about being given tickets to appear. They're a bit tougher down here in Texas. In Texas you get hauled off to jail until you're arraigned and bail is set, which is usually the next day. After bail is set a person normally gets it paid through a bail bondsman, after which he/she would be released with certain conditions, one of which being that his/her driver's license is revoked. With the help of a lawyer, the license can be restored for driving to and from work until the proscribed period of revocation expires. IF it is a second DUI, another requirement is to have a breathing machine installed in the car which requires the driver to blow into it showing no alcohol on his/her breath before the car will start. By the way, if you get arrested on a Saturday, you might not get arraigned until Monday, and you'll be stuck in jail over the weekend.

This is not my personal experience, but that of someone that I know.

Who is this woman? How dare you live your life as if your better than anyone else! Because of her heinous acts of breaking the law, she cannot be above reproach. Spend some time in jail. When you have lost yours, you’ll appreciate the lives of people you don’t know. Yes, let her see herself on public news media!!

Who cares about some rich stupid actress? I certainly don’t. I only bestow kindness on people who deserve it.

Someone who puts the lives of others in jeopardy doesn’t deserve privileges.

A reality TV Star! Hah! The real reality is getting a pair of handcuffs and a free chauffeur driven police car with the sirens and all the pretty lights flashing. I’m sure she will look remarkable in the government issued orange jumper. It will be sad that it is too loose to fit. ROFLMAO!

So, is this how you want every first DUI offender to be treated? It's not like the consequences are a walk in the park.

A long long time ago, I got my driver license. I got a nice talking to by my dad. He made it quite clear that driving and drinking will never mix. After 30 plus years I drink and don’t drive or drive and don’t drink. I have seen many friends leave and never come back. Be strict with the youngins now and you’ll never regret it. It is a great tragedy to lose your child.

If the network was smart, they would include this in the reality tv show. Then have her called into the network executive’s office to be canned. That will teach Ms Privileged that she got her spanking and lived to tell about it.

Usually the statistics are not in the favor of the sober driver. They are the ones that get hurt or killed while those who drive drunk get another day behind the wheel!!
