Just think how many more Adam's photographs would exist, if he didn't have to spend hours in the darkroom with each of the ones that do exist!

So you are in favor of quantity over quality?

😂 I tend to agree. After dropping a fortune on all the best stuff they see no improvement in their photos and finally come to the correct conclusion. The best gear allows you to get the best results provided that the photographer is capable of those results. Most have gear that has capabilities beyond their skill level.

Now no need to fill the frame? Just close your eyes, press the shutter and pick a few pixels from the resulting pic to discover a "photograph" ? Seriously - I'm a bit jealous! But ! recently swapped my gear for a Leica fixed F1.7 24-75 zoom P&S (13mpx in M4/3 mode)- and having lots of fun getting some really sharp pics. Horses for courses!

Yes, gear is irrelevant. But some will say that for some types of subject matter gear is very relevant. Those fools apparently believe that their subject matter is very relevant :-(

Gorgeous creativity outside the lines of the box

Paul, you should move this to the humor section! This was a very funny response.

Thanks, but we're left wondering which, alas. I'll defer to ADMIN whether this thread has reached Chit-Chat level removal.

Try shooting birds in flight or indoor low light action without specialized equipment and see how far your eyes get you.

AA had little or no competition. In today's world he might not have stood out from the crowd.
Moonshine took a YEAR of continuous development to get to be the image we know. Perhaps someone else could, today, have done better with PS in ten minutes. I suppose we all have to have a hero. AA would not be mine.

I had no idea AA made moonshine. I wonder if it doubled as developer. Kinda ironic that his initials were AA and he was making moonshine!

And sharpness is overrated. The most important of all tools in photography is the eye. If you don't have an eye for it, there's nothing can help. And it's pretty easy to see who does and who doesn't, don't you think?

Macro focus stacking is much easier with a camera having that capability; so not completely irrelevant.

You want REALISTIC sharpness. Far too many photos spoilt by over-sharpening. Similarly over-saturation.

You said a mouthful. Two major processing mistakes.

I once thought gear is irrelevant until I took a small Vivitar pocket camera on a bike ride; the sensor size, the inability to zoom (without using my feet), and other things convinced me to put the Vivitar away and only take my DSLR with me on bike rides. Gear is relevant, but knowing how to use that gear properly is important.

Agreed. AA is just the default hero for those who know nearly nothing, and thus know of nobody else to fill that role.

Ironicly CLEVER. Likely no accident.
Adams is a creature of marketeering.
