What always amazes me on your shots Jim are the great poses and expressions... I seem to recall you said you mostly let these young women "run with it" and pose how they felt. I guess there were a lot of "naturals" back in those days - many of these young ladies could have easily gone on to be models if that was indeed the case! Of course, kudos to you for knowing just when to take the shot.
I am always impressed at the lighting and composition you captured in B&W, knowing this was not the age of digital, where can bracket and take literally hundreds of shots to find that perfect one... film was expensive and I know I didn't try to take any wasted shots! :)

The 'run with it' referred to handing the subject a piece of fabric and do what they felt was fun. See the first image here.
AND - handing them a tee-shirt, ditto. See how the second in this group put it on, swapping the straps.
Provided the darkest areas are not in saturation, and provided the lightest areas are similarly not in saturation then histogram and similar editing can make the grey scale do whatever you want. I have posted a handful of images wherein the whites were squashed and it was difficult to 'recover' those images.

It is not so difficult to choose the best images. I choose them ALL!!! Jim, all the years of going to that beach area sure did pay off that the most beautiful young women were so open to having their images photographed by an excellent photographer.
Yes, all of them could have modeled, and they also might have had relations, but their youthful innocence shows their flawless beauty, and that is the most beautiful part of who they are.
