Headline in our local paper - "Strong Voter Turnout." The picture doesn't match the headline.

... And you're surprised because the story doesn't match the facts?

After work last week, I went to vote at my usual precinct. There were 8 poll workers present and one other voter besides myself.

So, what did the story say was "strong turnout"? Did the story mention what percentage of voters showed up at the polls? Was the reporter at the poll and took the picture? Or was the photographer there at a normally down time for voting and had to "shoot and run" to another assignment. Your "reporting" (which is actually opinion) is devoid of enough facts for the reader to make up his/her own mind. You are doing exactly what you are accusing the "local newspaper" of doing, except, I'll bet there were some numbers in the story to back up the headline, despite what the photo shows. The photo is a moment in time, while the written story encompasses the entire day.

The "stories" in this local paper tend to be short. No mention of numbers.
