IT IS NOT THE LENS, IT IS THE PHOTOGRAPHER. And it always will be.

You just took words from my mouth but I need to clarify something that most probably everyone here knows. With mirrorless cameras the distance from the rear of the lens to the focal plane (sensor) is pretty short. This results in the manufacture of lenses that end up been sharper than those made for a dSLR camera. I do not mean that lenses manufactured for dSLR cameras are not sharp but if manufactured for a mirrorless body those lenses are going to be almost always sharper.
Right now the photography world is dominated by the mirrorless revolution, except for Pentax. Even independent manufacturers are into making mirrorless lenses, it is what sells right now. It does not mean a dSLR is useless, I bet many professionals still use them and although research and development is now entirely mirrorless or so it seems, there are still many photographers who prefer a dSLR.
It all started with Epson and Leica and then Olympus introduced its Pen EP-1 around 2009. It was such a small camera and the first camera of that size I have seen with interchangeable lenses. I bought one out of curiosity and although lenses for it were very scarce at the time I did enjoy the little camera and it was a breeze taking it with a couple of lenses in my travels. That little camera got me into the Olympus M43 system.
We all know that a camera and a lens are as good as the operator can make them. My old pancake lens, the Zuiko 17mm f2.8 is a lens that has received horrific reviews and instead it has been an asset for me. I can say the same of other lenses like the Nikon 18-200 f3.5-5.6 AF, VR. which has in my opinion an excellent performance if I do my part. No lens or camera is perfect, I am sure we all know that and YES, it is the photographer.
Life is like photography, you can drive a Yugo or you can drive a Lamborghini, but you're still a failure if you show up without your memory card.

F mount lenses also benefit from IBIS if they’re used on a Z body with IBIS.
Adding ibis, is a great benefit.
I don’t “do” charts, but I can clearly state from my experience, that the 24-120 f4 Z mount lens on the Z9 is far superior to the f mount 24-120 f4, whether on a D850 or with an ftz2 on the Z9. To me, it is a drastic upgrade
Improvement begins with I - as in: I will buy a mirrorless camera today.
