Beautiful! I was up there three weeks ago and the aspens we’re changing but not as pretty as they are now.

Thank you! Where all did you visit in SW Colorado? When planning this trip, I was concerned about being on the late side for color at the higher elevations, but found I was a bit early--with the exception of Crested Butte.

Wonderful lighting.

Getting an early start does make a difference! My friend wasn't as eager to get out in the morning as I usually am. But we timed it right at Crystal Lake. Helps that sunrise is later than advertised when you're sandwiched between high mountain ranges.

The morning got off to a good start with big clouds and calm winds, but that changed as a front moved in, bringing winds and cooler temps. I had such big plans for the day on the Million Dollar Hwy. until my friend told me she got panic attacks from sheer drop-offs. She was being serious and I could appreciate how heights become more of an issue as we age. Guess I will save that itinerary for another trip, lol. But the morning spent at Crystal Lake couldn't have been lovelier with the mirror reflections on the water and the golden light. We spent an hour strolling the shore before the wind moved in, roiling the water and darkening the skies.
The morning got off to a good start with big cloud... (show quote)

Beautiful photos of a beautiful part of our country. What or who are the two human like figures in #4, or are they a joke?

No joke, just a couple out enjoying a stroll around the lake. SW Colorado has drawn me like a magnet for many years now, with so much beautiful scenery.

I stayed in Ouray for two nights. Then went to Dillon and for three nights and traveled all over within 150 miles of there, over virtually every mountain pass around there. Then stayed the last night in Pueblo. The aspens were maybe 50% in their change when I was there this year. This was Sept 27 - Oct 3. During the same period last year the aspens were absolutely gorgeous with the mountains looking like they were on fire.

It looks like you times it almost perfectly!
