Thanks, Frank.

Do you have any idea what those two pipes, or cables, are that stick out of the rear of the house and are anchored to a tree. I don't have a clue. I've never seen anything like that.

They look like aluminum tube / part of an TV antenna to me.

Even today if there were no signs, fences or locks I would have had to at least look inside and underneath but I ALWAYS have a flash light in the car😎

What's with all these abandoned houses ? Every time I turn around I find another one. It's starting to get a little spooky. Check out the rear of the home in the second image and tell me what you think is going on.

From the bleached wood on the upper part of the back walls, I'm guessing the place has been relatively recently used for cooking meth -- currently a popular use of abandoned buildings in my part of the country.

And, I suspect, in MOST parts of the country since the public is slow to catch on and thinks any drug problem in their community is coming in from far away.

Today it's meth. Fifty plus years ago (depending on local liquor laws) the same place may have been used for cooking moonshine.

Exploring abandoned buildings is an interest I carried over from childhood, but more recently gave up since I don't like to get shot at.

Hey, Tom. Those things in the back look like a tv antenna to me. It looks as if they are connected to a rusty rod.

Frank ( manglesphoto ) also thinks it's an antenna. You guys are most likely right. I didn't pay any attention to it when I was there. When reviewing the photos, however, it looked like it either extended into or out of the back wall. It probably just fell against the wall when it collapsed.

It looks like a ham radio antenna to me, just my 2 cents.

Hey, Earnest.

I certainly appreciate you throwing in your 2 cents because I was clueless. I may go back to that place, get some close-up detailed shots of the thing. Just to satisfy my own curiosity.

These old abandoned houses often speak to a lack of opportunity of making a reasonable living to support a family to the degree that most of us would want.

I see a figure there, Jack, but I can't quite make it out. Looks like it may have horns....like a devil or some kind of demon.

Thanks for the visit.

There was no door there.

That could be. I prefer to look at the other side of that coin....things got better and they were able to move to a more suitable environment.

Getting shot at is not high on my list either. When I'm in environments like that, I stay on red alert.
