I have a Sony A7iii with two original Sony batteries. When powering up my camera, I get a message “continued use of the battery cannot be guaranteed”, asking if I want to continue? I have said yes but I am not sure why I get this message with both Sony batteries. Any suggestions?
Thanks.

I have only seen that message when using a non OEM battery. Were your batteries charged out of camera or in camera?

In the Sony charger, out of camera.

Is it possible that you have used up your batteries, ie. they no longer keep a full charge?

That seems likely considering that Ive never seen that message on my a7III even though Im using mostly nonSony batteries.

With 7 in play its unlikely Ive worn any out.

That's a good example of a bad message. It's like when the computer says, "We've encountered a problem," or "Something isn't working right."

I haven’t encountered many computer messages like that. Either directly {or behind the scenes} they provide more information that will mean something to an expert. For example, many computer systems keep a running log.

How old are those batteries? Do you get the message for both of the batteries, or just one of them? Batteries don't last forever. Your camera just might be telling you the truth.

It's sometimes the site I'm trying to get to that gives me a message like that.

REEEALLY unrelated. Or maybe you just wanna generate confusion ?

Internal device error messages are not delivered from external online servers.

I haven’t seen that message on any of my Sony batteries or non-Sony batteries, but it looks to me that it’s telling you your battery is wearing out and has a very limited life left. You might want to replace the battery.

A similar issue has appeared after some firmware updates, but is more commonly related to third party batteries.

This from the article:

Note: If you receive this warning on the screen even when using your original NP-FZ100 battery, it’s a sure sign that you actually have a counterfeit!

Buy a brand new battery and you will have the answer.

My thoughts also. There have been reports of counterfeits infiltrating the supply stream.
