I also had one 396 375hp 4 speed was fast but god did it drink fuel about 5 mpg , could be the way I drove it. LOL

Mine was a little different. 350SS short block. Local drag racer blew it out to 650HP with a Hurst close ratio 4 speed, Radical cam, Edelbrock ram log manifold with 2 Holly 750 4 barrel carbs. Hooker headers and Scheaffer blow proof bell housing and 4:10 gears. I ran it on the street and believe it or not, drove to work. Don't know what the mileage was, but when I ran it you could watch the gas gauge move. Maybe 2 mpg. Those were the days. Fond memories. Very loud. No mufflers just resonators. Most local police had a problem with the noise. LOL
