Looks like it is too late to purchase a Sony camera. Sony camera orders from Catholics spiked yesterday on news that the Pope uses Sony cameras. Sony cameras at camera stores are now backordered.

For video equipment it makes sense to use Sony. Sony has been in the video business for a long time.

I dunno - there are advantages to brand loyalty which include experience with reliability, user interface, design priorities, performance, quality control, etc. I am brand loyal to particular brands of TVs, automobiles, appliances, computer storage, stereo receivers, power tools just to name a few. And yes, cameras. That doesn’t mean I won’t try a new brand, but it does mean that if I’ve had a good experience with regard to quality, performance, reliability and ergonomics, lacking a major change in direction, I’d be predisposed to buy another.
