They would love it. Did Ansel Adams use glass plates with very long exposure times?

If Ansel Adams was the photographer worthy of that name, he'd do a better job Straight Out Of Camera like a Real Photographer.

He captured the film version of a raw image (the score) with the intent to carefully post process it (the performance).

He would not have used a JPEG SOOC.

He dabbled with color film but his best work was done in B&W.

Adams was frustrated shooting color because he didn't feel he had the control over the color like he had with B&W tonality. I think he would have loved shooting digital color because of the precise control of the color. I also think he might have kept shooting B&W film since there is a quality of silver darkroom prints which can't be equaled by digital printers.

A real photographer like Ansel Adams hiked all the way into those mountains and took one perfect shot and hiked home to glory.

My perspective goes back to the early 60’s, before pro-grade cameras had light meters. It has been a journey filled with amazement, nostalgia and smiles. I will admit that I miss “real” darkrooms, albeit not enough to go back to having one.

Some of us here are old enough to qualify as great photographers from the past. Not famous, but great. My view is that I enjoy the features. If we make images to please viewers, we might like all the tools to do that.

About to say the same thing; this forum already has many great photographers from the "past". I read part of an interview with Ansel Adams when he was asked about the approaching digital age. He had lamented defacing some of his limited edition negatives as he thought it would restrict his use of their electronic image possibilities. (Little did he know...: )

Ansel Adams was actively working with early digital cameras before he passed and loved the lack of physical tools he would have to used to do what software could and he loved it... Had the pleasure of sitting in on a lecture he gave, in 1969, at the Oakland Museum. It totally changed my attitude toward photography (kodak instamatics!) and set me on my course today...

Yes, and he also shot with a Polaroid camera and was a consultant for Polaroid.

I think most of them would embrace it as they did the technology of the time. They were not stuck in past processes.

Just like painting tools eventually evolved into the camera and film, then digital. AI is the next step replacing post process and then the camera. It's a great time to be alive.

There are a lot of myths concerning Ansel Adams, I wonder?
