Feedback welcomed. A color version, with a couple of other photos, is here, for those who aren't familiar with basalt.

Many thanks for your time.

Thank you very much, Dodie. I'm so glad you enjoyed! Most of the photos have too much colorful lichen for me to want to convert. But this imposing chunk against the sky worked out. I like that it feels as if it could topple over on us; however, the reality is I was across a road, sitting in a car, using a long lens

Glad you enjoyed, Bill - thanks! It's a nearby location that has a large pull-out area. I can steady my arms on my open car window and not worry about being run over

The color topic I linked is in Digital Artistry Forum. Are you subscribed to our little group? Would love to see you more often.

I usually like B&W but I don't think it's the right medium for this. I like the second color shot. The plant and lichens add some needed life to the shot.

I find it very interesting!

In fact, in the upper center portion I see a prehistoric monster that got trapped in the formation of this basalt (has a gorilla face). Or, perhaps, it is lying in wait for an unsuspecting rock climber!?!?

Thanks very much for your comments, Jack. The life among the rocks is rich, beautiful and fascinating, for sure.

Never said it was a bad monster. Could be a tickle monster like me with my grandkids. :-)
