Imagine yourself as a successful photographer. Did you take too few or too many great images?

I am a parrot photographer. Really. I shot 90 covers for Bird Talk magazine alone.. plus many other parrot related things.

Since most parrots do not sit still for very long when surrounded by lights, a new perch to sit on, and a slew of other things like a new person... I did not shoot endless images. I patiently waited for expressions that would work for the magazines. I was lucky, the birds were not afraid of me and tended to relax and as I talked to them, they easily relaxed. When I got the kind of shots I wanted I stopped shooting.

You end up capturing 32 images at 25mp (800 MP total) with a lens designed for a 24-46MP camera and end up with one 96MP image.

If you don't see that as an exercise in futility, spend the $1,996.95 and tell us how much better the 17x22 inch print looks.

I would be happy with the Zf at 25MP.

I really don’t need to. I already have a camera that will create an 80MP image through pixel shift on a tripod. I haven’t used that feature but I have on occasion used the 50MP handheld feature. It’s nice to have when I’m not carrying my heavier equipment.

Exactly... but certain Hawgsters have built themselves an impenetrable mental barrier against ever comprehending anything thaz just too dirt simple for them.

Here's an even simpler approach - 3 overlapping (50%) images from either of my 24MP bodies. That's a total of 72MP resulting in a 6000x8000 pixel (46.9MP) panorama image from the equivalent of a 36x48mm sensor, larger than 33x44mm medium format digitals.

No matter which lens I use I get almost a doubling of area resolution and about a 40% increase in sharpness (because the details need 30% less magnification) compared to a single image with a similar lens. And the 3:4 aspect ratio is easier to print.

I can easily do this handheld for landscapes. Three shots effectively doubles the resolution of any sensor.

When it comes to impenetrable mental barriers, you are the poster boy.

I create mostly B&W images. When on a tripod, I will shoot a landscape with exposure bracketing (usually 5) as I am very interested in the shadows I get. I would think doing the same for colors would also be useful.

If you are steady, burst mode can be used for shooting panoramas. You have to be steady but it can be done in a pinch. Needless to say using a tripod and manual mode is better.

For anyone who thinks I'm just talking through my hat, here is a quick demo.

I used a Sony A7 II (converted to monochrome) with a 75mm 1.8 Voigtlander Heliar Classic manual focus lens. I stitched the three 24MP images together in Capture One. The effective focal length was close to 50mm after cropping away the curved edges.

Three 24MP images stitched into a 7655x6169 pixel 46.1MP panorama - ISO 400 (effectively 800 due to the removal of the Bayer array) 1/3200 f/8

Yes, I do that at times, but when I’m hiking with a group I don’t often have the time to carefully compose and shoot 3 images, making sure the elements are properly lined up. My friends are some pretty fast hikers. Fine if it’s a feature you don’t care for. It works for me. You do you.

20fps is a little too fast for that.

A lot of work for a less than compelling image.

It’s not a lot of work. Less than 10 minutes from start to finish.

Not a work of art. It’s my standard target for studying resolution and sharpness.

Here's a challenge for you. Produce a sharper higher resolution image in less than 10 minutes by any other method.

You can't afford 10 minutes? I that means you are conceding.
