Thank you for (the story of Jack).
You must have known that we have a 9 year old golden retriever, named Jack.
He will be 10 on Easter, this year.
We have had many dogs, (and two goldies), but this animal believes that he is human.
We are retired, but he is not. His life's goal is to "love on us" and the rest of our
family. So, we love on him, right back....with almost as much love as he gives to us.
The house is his and so is the back yard, the front yard, and any person that walks down our street
is subject to his "alerting" bark, and an occasional growl, if they stop for more than 5 seconds in
front of our yard or driveway.
Your story of "Jack," was the first thing that I read on my e-mails this morning. It was rather difficult
to read the last few lines of your story, (because of the misting in my eyes).
I would love to have my wife read your lines of love for Jack, but I don't think she could get thru
the whole thing without coming apart.
You see, I love (My Jack), but my wife loves Jack with a passion, like no other human being on earth.
Sometimes, I believe she would sacrifice her life for him, and let me fend for myself.
Yes, dogs, can become our friends and household companions, but for those that need a little extra
love in their lives, "our dogs" can be the glue that holds our sanity together, when the rest of the world
appears to be working itself into oblivion and destruction.
[Your Jack], is definitely, not of this world. My wife tells me that "When she walks into heaven, that
she will be greeted by 20 beloved dogs, and one horse that got her thru this lifetime of suspense.
Thanks again. You are a fantastic writer. (Your themes are always welcomed on UHH.

Thank you so very much. I love dogs as much as you say your wife does and a Golden is definitely one of the smartest breeds, along with Aussies and Borders. So sorry I made your eyes rain. I tried to be as careful as possible.
Our dogs are our babies all their lives. They could not live long without us to care for them. Unlike us, they never grow up where they can take care of themselves. I have had at a dog every day of my 86 years. I am currently taking care of my last one. He is a tiny 18 year old Yorkshire Terrorist that was abused for 6 years before I got him. For the last 6 months, he can only see a foot in front of his face so he walks that close to my feet, every step I take. Sometimes he gets too far away, can't see me, panics and barks so I'll get close enough for him to find me. He doesn't hear well either and when he runs, he runs on 3 legs. He cannot pick up bites of food so I have to sit down and hold him, put one bite at a time in his mouth and then rub his throat so he can swallow it. He eats 5 times a day like that and it takes him forever each time. It takes about half of every day just feeding him. He weighed 3 pounds when I got him but in the last 8 months he has gradually lost half a pound. He is so skinny, the HS would have me arrested if they saw him but , but I won't put him down as long as he is still sassy and bossy and I certainly won't let him starve. Oh my how we love our pups!!!!
