Most here won’t accept that for 90% of subjects, Auto mode is as good as human intervention. Today’s cameras know when it’s an action shot vs landscape vs night scene vs close-up vs etc. The problem isn’t camera friendliness, it’s people not being friendly to new ideas.

And cameras have no clue what the photographer’s intent is. Maybe auto mode can give me a reasonable exposure but it has no clue what I want for DOF or if I want to freeze action or include some motion blur. Auto works for 90% of snapshots but not for what I shoot.

Nikon is a great camera both film and mirrorless. I shoot with Canon R6 for stills and a Canon HF G60 for video. I like the color with Canon. I use these two cameras for professional jobs. For personal use I use a Sony DSC-RX100.

The equipment is 10% of the result - the other 90% percent is you.

use whatever makes you happy; remember you are buying a system, the body is only the platform and these days, with the exception of Leia, Nikon and Pentax which have no lossless filters, they are all the same.

Which is better… mirror or mirror less… i’ve owned a canon and do like it… but have wondered if nikon is more user friendly?

Canon, Nikon, Sony and Fuji all make excellent cameras each having some advantages.

If you have Canon experience, you won't be disappointed going with Canon.

I use Canon and do not envy Nikon owners. I do however envy Sony users when shooting video because Canon simply has no reasonably priced full frame lenses with motorized zoom.

I don’t envy Sony; film movie cameras were always different from still cameras.

When you think all the brands are the same, you own the wrong brand.

Welcome with your first post and first day of membership!

Anyone that has been here for awhile will see this as trolling, click-bait or sly trick to get a 10 page argument going yet again.

There are no user friendly cameras now. To be competitive, they all have near infinite lists of features controlled by choices in book length menu systems.

All newer cameras also have a superlative "Auto" setting derived from decades of technological development. Auto will make any camera or phone user friendly.
