Yes I believe it is Green Coffee Extract, GCE. (But. Could be anything since there is nothing to define it on the bottle. TM, Trade Mark)

Do a Google search on the product name. If the top 10 results are all sites selling the product, and none of the top results are scientific analysis (not sales analysis) then ---> It is a snake oil (aka useless) product.

I'm looking for an opinion on this Food Supplement a friend of mine is selling. I say if it sounds too good to be true........ Attached you will see some info, the actual label on the bottle. I would appreciate any opinion from the medical professionals. I'm especially interested in the claim of controlling blood sugar.

Oh great.

now I can eat banana splits and crispy cream donuts together without any concerns!

Enzymes even if active in pills are proteins and will be broken up in gut , so only few aminoacids left

I agree, but could you explain why you think so?

Not a biochemist here, but common sense informs me.

All those enzymes would release the complex carbohydrates quickly, spiking blood sugar. Spiking blood sugar instead of a slow release causes insulin resistance leading to diabetes and obesity.

Your body doesn't need help spiking blood sugar levels.

What the posters above said. The list is of a bunch of enzymes. One can tell as their names end in "-ase". Enzymes are proteins and most are broken down in the stomach so I think very little would get into the small intestine where they might act to break down sugars before they are absorbed. Well, maybe they'd work in the stomach a little bit before they are broken down. Maybe. But so what?
Enzymes are very specific about what they digest, and none of the enzymes listed even break down glucose! Some break down more complex sugars into glucose, even. The two forms of amylase might do that since amylases break down starch into glucose molecules, but they don't break down glucose.
What the posters above said. The list is of a bunc... (show quote)

I spent many years working as a pharmaceutical scientist. I can assure that oral absorption of proteins, including enzymes. is at best extremely poor. It is the job of your stomach to break down proteins. Insulin a peptide (a small protein) is given by injection for this reason. Be highly skeptical of this product.

I still remember a few things from my days picking up a PhD in Biophysics. Assuming that any of the enzymes (everything in the ingredients ending in -ase) managed to make survive long enough to do anything, I can't think where any of them would have anything to do with controlling blood sugar. I would give High Marks to whoever came up with the label, it does sound impressive to someone who doesn't know what the ingredients are.

Maybe the idea is that after buying it, one doesn't have enough money left to buy anything to eat.

I would check out the following link as it makes me think they are looking for beta testers for a potential new money maker.
