Now how do we work raw vs. jpg into the conversation?

I am awaiting Pauls words of wisdom.

Sony makes Nikon's high-end sensors. Nikon is doomed.

Sony, Canon and Nikon are all doomed. DJI rules because their cameras fly. And, they bought Hasselblad just to prove they are the leader!

Welcome! As you will see in a few hours, we all think Nikon mirrored is the way to go!

Well, I have 2 of each (mirrored & mirrorless). So, not exactly.

Leave it to Pentax. Not satisfied with simply being left behind they are now contriving to actually regress backwards. Go Pentax !!!

Realistically, if they do have any old tooling thaz still viable, they may even make a few sheckels riding the current mini wave of film resurgence with almost no new investment.

mirrored v mirrorless - over the last decade there has been virtually no change in image quality for similar cameras. I'll reference Nikon models since that's what I shoot. Put a photo in front of anyone taken with a 10 year old D750 and another one from a brand new Z8 and ask them to tell you which was taken by which camera. Without looking at the data, they can't do it. What has advanced is autofocus and with mirrorless AF has the chance to be even better, and it is. So if you get 90% of your photos in focus with Z8, that might drop down to 75% in focus with a D750. Of course, it depends on what you're doing and the conditions. The reason another response referenced the Nikon D850 is that it's probably the best mirrored camera ever made. And if someone wants to argue that, let's say it's either the best or one of the best. And you can get it for a price that's far below the cost of a new Z8. At the end of the day, it comes down to what you want your camera to do. If you're just taking landscapes and portraits, in other words, things that don't move around much, a high end expensive mirrorless camera is serious overkill. But if you're shooting sports, or children, or wildlife, then the advantages of the latest AF systems will be important to you. As for brands, after you decide what you most want to do with the camera, then buy the brand with the best camera for that genre. And don't fret about this a lot because all the major brands make excellent cameras. We camera buyers are in a nice situation because it's pretty hard to make a mistake when choosing which brand. But start by answering the question - what do you mostly plan to do with this camera?

Which is better… mirror or mirror less… i’ve owned a canon and do like it… but have wondered if nikon is more user friendly?

I'm not sure if you posted this with the hopes of getting serious feedback. If you did, my suggestion is to back out of this thread and try again with a single more focused question. When some of the folks here see Nikon vs Canon they adopt the mentality of a group of boys when one of them passes wind.

Welcome to UHH and good luck!

Welcome to the forum! As you can tell, we have opinions about equipment, so find some other photographers you know who have the kinds of cameras you are interested in. Hold the cameras, shoot with them, ask questions. The current trend is mirrorless, so probably best to lean in that direction. Decide what would be best for your intended use and get whatever brand appeals most to you. They are all amazing cameras and lenses.

With the wrong brand, success is probably 99% luck. But with Canon equipment, it's 100% the photographer.
