I hear you very well. Will be a very different experience for me. As a great friend and photographer said to me, if you don’t have it, you can’t use it. 😂

If I were coerced into working with a single FL with no possible alternate choices, the 28/1.7 on the Q3 would be rather appealing.

Obviously, not one FL does everything but 28 or 35 has always proven to be the very most useful general purpose choice (see attached).

This tiny 25mm is called the Snapshot Skopar, actually engraved as such right into the metal.

I have not personally used any of the Leica cameras. I had an opportunity during a workshop in Death Valley so see some images produced by the Q2 Monochrome kit. They were astounding. It has peaked my interest in a monochrome only camera.

I think that you will enjoy the Q3. I used to be a Nikon user for over fifty years, I shoot with a Leica M10R, and primarily use a 35mm summicron. If you shoot street photography, the Q3 is a great choice. A major advantage of the Q3 is that it has autofocus, which the M Cameras lack. As I get older, autofocus would be a great help to me. I look forward to seeing some of your pix from the new camera. You cannot beat Leica optics.

The Q3 is a photo kit in the box. The 60+ meg censor allows the Q3 to present three different frame lines to simulate other lenses. Sure, they only use portions of the sensor but still large enough for bigger prints. Query Q3 on you tube and you’ll have enough “expert” opinions to make your heD swirl. Thumb rest makes sense, so does the half case. Top off your purchases with the $1000’oberwerth leather case made for the Q3 and you’re good for two or three years until the Q4.

Good point however, the Q3 is a fixed lens. Can't remove it. That's why I'm buying it.

It’s a “fixed” lens on a 60 MP camera and you can electronically “zoom” (i.e., crop) from 28mm to 35, 50, 75 or 90mm. Even at 90mm there’s still plenty of pixels tp play with.

That’s why it’s my preferred travel camera. A single, high quality Leica lens with lots of versatility.

A very good source for Leica information is the Red Dot Forum on YouTube. David Farkas and Josh Lehrer of the Leica Store in Miami have excellent presentations without a sales pitch. You can find information about the Q3 and other Leica cameras on their channel. Keep in mind that when you electronically “zoom”, you are just cropping the frame and not getting the true perspective of a 35, 50, 75 or 90 mm lens. That said, the Q cameras are great. If you were to buy an M11 or M10R as I did (used) you would have a larger hole in your wallet if you were to try to duplicate those focal lengths. (I only shoot with a 35 and a 90 on my M10R). Enjoy the camera and share your pictures with us.

I have been a Nikonite for over 50 years with one stray to Sony when the first mirrorless came out. I returned to Nikon.

I was recently on a photo expedition to Malta and Sicily with a group of photographers, several of them had Leicas. These Leicas really peaked my interest. I ordered a Q3 and it will be delivered to me within 24 hours.

I am very excited about this new venture. I know that it will be a completely different shooting experience, and will not replace my Nikons (Z9) as they are completely different animals.

I really enjoy this forum and the wealth of experience and information that is contained herein. It’s the first place I look daily for new information and commentary. So, I ask any of you with experience with Leica, for any insight you have to offer. I am sure there are specific Leica forums worth subscribing to, I just don’t know which ones are the best, so recommendations are welcome.
Thank you for your time and advice.

My "PhotoBudget" is very different to yours, but I recently swapped all my Panny kit for a Leica D-Lux 109, which has a 3xZoom fixed lens. and although the sensor is 17mpx, the optical 3xZoom makes up for lack of pixels. I've been a M4/3 photographer for 15 years, and this Leica lets me continue to shoot in that format. So far I have no regrets for the refreshing change (i.e. one camera in wax-jack pocket). The lens is magic - as i'm certain yours will be, and I think you'll soon be leaving the Nikons at home.
Best, Del.

It's interesting that nobody commented on my "pet peeve" with the point of focus moving around. It's the only thing I don't like about the Q2M...
Is there a fix that I don't know about?

I don’t know of any. I looked at the Q2M manual on line and couldn’t find anything. Sorry.
Have you contacted Leica USA about suggestions?

I just found this https://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/4599773 Reading through the comments, it seems that you double tap the rear screen to center.

Yep, that will center it but if you carry the camera around while it's on, the four way arrow wheel will get bumped and it moves the center focus point. If you don't check it, you'll find your focus is somewhere other than where you want it.
It would be nice to disable the rotator wheel so your focus point doesn't get jostled off center.
I just thought there would be more Q users complaining about this...
