This A/C was the first to have more thrust than it weighed. It was able to accellerate when climbing straight up. When the aircraft would reach its rotation speed on take off the pilot was able to raise the nose to verticle and climb while accellerating. No other A/C was able to do this until the F-22 arrived in the inventory. To an aviator this fete is very impressive. Taint cheap, but still a thrill. I was able to go verticle one time but my A/S fell off quickly as the A/C started at mach 1 and wound up in a tail slide. Rolling at mach 1 is something that gets your attention as it occurs at about twice per second. Not as thrilling as the Eagle but a blast and a half to a student pilot on his first solo in the T-38! Most flying after that was mundane. My biggest thrill in the C-141A was eating a freshly prepared beef tips and noodles dinner while cruising the North Pacific Track at FL 350. Took a nap when I was done eating. Flying does have its ups and downs but it is still the most fun I've ever had with my clothes on!

Thanks for the time to share your thoughts/memories. Enjoyed the 141 reference, 'cuz I'm a cargo guy spending 3500+ hours in a C-5. I remember the sight of a F-15 starting low over the field at Kadena, coming in low, then going nose straight up - and up - and up. Must have been fun in the seat.

Fantastic shots of a warbird with an amazing record. Air to air combat record: F-15, 102 victories. Various bad guys, 0. That's right kids. Not a single F-15 lost in aerial combat to an aircraft built in Russia.
Amazingly sharp and detailed photos!
An amazing record - should be brought up when ever possible.
Thanks for adding!
very nice Shots.. Do you ever get to Oskosh.. I
have never been disappointed At Airventure.. Saw the B-1 there, The SR-71. the Concorde, and most all of the greats, the F-15 included .. also a wide collection of other planes like the Voyager after its around the world flight..In the Fifty or so trips that I have to Oskosh, include a few to Rockford when the EAA Convention was down there.. I am well satisfied with the EAA
,
Great set - nicely captured!
Amazing shots of the F-15. What a beautiful aircraft. Kadena was my last duty assignment before I got out in 1965. I remember watching some simulated bombing runs up in the mountains in the north. The planes came in so low and so fast you never saw them until the last minute. Back then, Okinawa was one big US military installation with every branch of the services having bases there. The marines trained for the Viet Nam war in the jungles in the North end of the island.
