Wonderful coverage of a meaningful event! You did a great job of including a good cross-section of the messages, but too many lanterns & messages for all to appreciate all, could literally fill a book. Organizers could make a site where everyone could upload their cell-phone photos of the panels of their lanterns; would make a long, but interesting read. Again, great shots, thanks for sharing!

Great set, Paul. With the positive messages and purpose, the contrast was the somber visages. But hard to assess or know why without being there. Great share.

Well done Paul. A shot of one individual (preferably young girl) would complete this well done story.

Thank you BurghByrd! I have a few day's worth of images. There's probably an image that meets this request in the pending posts. Keep an eye out next week.

Thank you Chance! The lines to get to the launch points were poorly handled. People were probably trying to remain calm for a miserable wait.

Thank you ELNikkor! Today's modern solution is the use of #hashtags on social media, rather than a dedicated site. I didn't realize I could read much of the text until looking at the pixel level details later when I got home.

Thank you junglejim1949, JimmyTB, durango, ELNikkor, Irvingite Charles, Chance Logan, Joe, BurghByrd! I was there alone at the festival. The change in date and location didn't work for the original companion for the evening. I moved around within the crowd capturing a lot of different views over nearly the entire festival. Hopefully, a few other posts of different images will remain interesting next week.

Water Lantern Festival

Water Lantern Festival began in 2018 with events in 34 cities with a combined attendance of over 130,000 participants.

Water Lantern Festival

Water Lantern Festival can be a very emotional experience, writing down some of your hope and dreams, or a letter to a loved one, and then sending it out into the water.

Water Lantern Festival

Watch your unique lantern drift out into the water as it joins other lanterns carrying hope, love, happiness, healing, peace, and connection.

Water Lantern Festival

Water Lantern Festival cares deeply about our environment and our water resources. Following the event the organizing team retrieves each lantern and cleans-up any trash.

Water Lantern Festival

1 in 10 people around the world lack access to safe water. Water Lantern Festival works with Water.org to help change this.

This event combines the magic of friends, family, food, and a beautiful array of twinkling lanterns on the waterfront.

Very cool! Great photo's, all of them. I wasn't aware of this festival, but I checked online and it seems to have grown into a very large event. I signed up to be notified of the next festival out here on the west coast.

Thanks for the presentation.
