There is no way anyone would ever tell me I would pay so much for a lens cap until I bought a Nikon Z800 PF only to discover there is NO Nikon lens cap made. Nikon does throw in a soft cover to go over the lens with hood.
Niche created! Along comes Karl Zemlin of Zemlin Photo (Google it). He is an engineer and manufacturer. A one man show. Zemlin offers a variety of high quality products. I ordered mine about 3 weeks ago. Today my lens cap arrived. I am pleased that it far exceeds the photos online and is functionally perfect and fits like a glove as promised.
The cap is 3D printed and is about 3/8" thick. It has quality material (feels almost like carbon fiber)including quality springs, and allen screws. Stout indeed.
5 stars for Karl Zemlin on his design/engineering, material quality, communications, quality shipment (there is lead time on manufacturing due to demand), and he even made it a more personable by throwing in a couple of "Smarties" for the smart Nikon shooter. :)
Cheers to Karl. Thank you.

From the looks of it, it is 3d printed.

It is. 3D printed from fiberglass reinforced ABS.
I also want to put in a good word for Mr. Zemlin.
I truly love the ergonomics of my Z9,
although, I did not like the eyecup at all.
Hoodman makes an alternative cup, but it is not round, it has an elongated side, to shield light coming in from the side, and has to be rotated when you switch the camera from landscape to portrait.
Thank goodness for the internet, 3d printing and resourceful creators!
The Zemlin Eyecup is wonderful!!
It’s completely round and very well made.
It is a perfect replacement on the z8 and Z9, (and possibly, the zf).
An eyecup is such a small thing,
but it makes a big difference to me!!!
A big thank you to him for finding a need and making quality products to fill them.

It is a terrific eyecup. Funny how something so small is so important, well at least to me.
It is the connection between my face and my Z9, and it is a big part of the experience.
I am surprised that Nikon doesn’t offer one, like the DK-19, which I use on my D850.
The flat thing that comes with the Z8, Z9 and now the ZF, is not what I would call an eyecup!!!

Totally agree. With the prices of things these days you would think manufacturers would go the extra mile to incorporate high quality in the accessories.
