Right.

I use and mange computers for a living.

Once you choose matching components: CPU generation/cores/cache/cfreq, SDD technology, bus type/lanes/bfreq, RAM technology, etc. all machines perform *the same*, weather PC or MACs. Differences are statistically insignificant, and easily traceable to a driver issue or software version. Sometimes a particular software was developed and mantened in a platform and then migrated to another one as a sideline...

Explanation: modern computers are so ludicrously powerful, that the overhead imposed by the OS (*) is insignificant.

Note(*) for specialized tasks, OS overhead can be costly... this is why almost all web servers run Linux without graphical interface of any kind.

Mac just SO much easier to navigate Trix... Not worried about performance; M1 is fast enough for anyone not in production... Lets take a poll and see how many go BACK to windows after a Mac... and then we will poll the others going the other way... Guess where the numbers are going to lie ? I went through the phase of building towers with all the goodies; not worth it. Go apple and enjoy life ! Of course the die hards will never admit it... Identity computer disease is just as bad as Identity politics and photography... I guess I am as guilty of that as anyone defending Apple... Oh well, I have broad shoulders.

The world has already spoken in terms of choosing Windows/PCs vs MacOS/Macs in terms of market share.

Macs vs PCs, Nikon vs Canon, JPEGs vs raw… endless arguments. Whatever works for YOU - no need to proselytize.

In the end you probably won't have any choice. Windows 10 will more than likely be now longer supported.

If your computer has minimum Microsoft and Adobe requirements necessary to run Photoshop & Lightroom, you should not experience issues.

Windows 10 end of support is Oct, 2025, so you have a couple of years.

I have Windows 10 and 11 AND YES I TOO HAVE AN APPLE iPad Pro.
I have had both for years.
Just do it !!!!!!! you can't go wrong.

It is sadly but also entertaining to see the comments on subjects like this. The Apple crowd just cannot help themselves to chime which makes them look stupid because they do not answer the question.
To the Windows crowd, comments about pushing updates is an option the user can turn on or off and some have the Auto Update set on so it will do it automatically. Mine are set to allow me to install myself at my convenience.
Generally Microsoft pushes updates on the third Wednesday of the month. I manually do mine since they are already there for me, I just need to run them.
Also I turn OFF ALL the prompts to gather info and send to wherever.
Last week I bought a new DELL laptop from Microcenter in Dallas. Has Windows 11,it is a low end one with 8 gig ram but LightRoom runs very well. No problems at all.
When I setting it up I turned off (no) was the option I think, to all the gathering, reporting BS.
So with ALL the many many people using 11, it is a good OS. I am just getting used to it but it is nice.

I haven't had problems upgrading to W11 on my new computer. Frankly, I don't see it as a significant improvement.

It is not.

'till Apr 2021 it was intended to be the free 21H2 update to Windows 10.

Then the top suits closed a deal with Intel and AMD to enforce 6th gen CPUs with the intention of bolstering chip sales which were stalling by the end of the pandemic.

So they simply split the 21H2 upgrade in two:
a) the complete upgrade was renamed Windows 11 and 6th gen check (*) was added at installation time
b) the bug and security fix was kept as 21H1 for Win 10.

That's all.

Note *: it's trivially stupid to bypass the 6th gen CPU check, just swap a "0" for a "1" in a text file inside the installation media. It will work and update perfectly fine. It is *not* a hack, it is a documented feature of Win 11.

Personally, I have found Windows 11 to be a stable and slightly faster OS than Windows 10. Microsoft has continued to improve Win 11 and has corrected or made changes to any minor issues that I ran into initially. They have continued to add features many of which I have found to be useful. It is my sense that Windows 11 was meant to be both compatible with Windows 10 and to also serve as a foundation for what is coming next. From what I have read much of Windows 11's code was a complete rewrite and not just a tweaking of Windows 10. Rumor has it that Windows 12 is likely to be released sometime next year so upgrading to Win 11 is likely to make that transition that much easier and safer. If your hardware supports it Windows 11 is a worthwhile upgrade. That is my opinion based on my direct experience.

If the OP has not upgraded to Win11 yet, it may be too late.
