I'm confused about Generative AI Fill. Now that it is included in the non-Beta version of Photoshop, I have heard rumblings that Adobe is or will be charging an additional fee to use this feature. I've done some research on this topic but my results are inconclusive. Do any of you have a clear understanding of Adobe's intent?

The first part of this addresses the AI stuff. There are no additional charges now, but I don't expect that to last forever. Photoshop Photography Plan has been $10 a month for a very long time, and it was supposed to last only a year.

Edit: I don't think anyone has a "clear understanding," not even Adobe.

Well, that is a pretty useful link, but I am wondering which sort of account I have, as I have never sought Creative Cloud, Adobe Stock, Adobe Express, or Adobe Firefly account(s) under those names. I simply subscribe to the "Photo" plan, so I get PS, LR, LR Classic, Bridge, & ACR.

Can anyone tell me how to relate to this link?

You have the "Creative Cloud 20GB Photography Plan" with programs you listed.

After Nov 1 you will get 100 credits a month. They are not cumulative. They reset to zero each month.

The only confusion is that there are two conflicting statements. One is that they are not going to start metering until Nov 1. The other is that you have 250 a month until Nov 1.

Basically, you have at least 250 to use in October, maybe more. Then in November and following it will be 100.

Adobe has said that their challenge is to keep volume under control. The AI part uses a lot of server resources and, to keep it running smoothly, they are "metering" the use. As they move forward, the credit numbers may change.

The Photography plan with 20 Gb storage ($10 monthly) gets 250 credits. That's what I have. I guess I missed the part about it dropping to 100...

Generative AI fill use a 'credit' every time you use it - even if you do not select one of the options. If the three initial options are not to your liking and use generate again, you use another credit.

Note that the limit in size for the generative fill is 2000x2000 pixels. This is NOT the full image size but the selection size.

Those who have the photographer plan have 100 or 500 credits to use per month*. They are not cumulative, meaning use them or lose them.

The credit system starts November 1st, 2023.

If you use more credits than allotted you can still use generative AI, the process will be slower. How slow? No idea.
You can purchase extra credits from Adobe $4.99 for 100, so they are not cheap.

-------------
* This number varies from site to site that are supposedly informed. There is nothing that I found on Adobe to check the credit limit at this point...

There are over 21 million users of Adobe Creative Cloud, of which Photoshop is a part. At ten bucks a head I don't think they are hurting for revenue.

My understanding with the photography plan w 20mb you get 250 credits if you were a subscriber earlier than November 1, 2023. People who begin their subscriptions after that date will only be entitled to 100 credits per month.

Yes, Morganti gives good explanation of both the use and cost scenarios as of today.

Except I may have it wrong! I think mkhan, a couple posts up, might be right that there is a difference depending on when you start your subscription.
