Thanks for the visit.

A great loss, indeed. 3 crew members and 10 passengers. I assume the passengers were like me....pay $400 or $450 for around a 20 minute flight.

I've been up in both of these planes. It wasn't long after I was up in the B-17 ( Nine 0 Nine ) that it crashed and was totally destroyed, killing 7 people and wounding 6 others.

Very nice images. I too was up in the " Nine O Nine ". It was a replica of the actual " Nine O Nine " which was in my Dad's Squadron during WWII. He was a B17 Pilot. Thanks for posting.

Thanks, Mike. I felt a little erie when I learned about the crash. It wasn't that long after I had been up in it that the accident happened.

Horrifying occurrence! Excellent photos! I love WWII aircraft and their lore.

Thanks for dropping by.

I have the utmost respect for those crews that manned the bombers....particularly for those in the early going that had no fighter escort on raids deep into Germany. They had to realize and deal with the prospect that they wouldn't make it back to their base.

I have a shot of “Witchcraft” flying into the Schenectady, NY airport when I was shooting a soccer game and heard the roar of the four engines. If you would like I can post it here. Also, my cousin was a radio operator on B-17 that was shot down over Germany and he spent time in a Stalag (I think it was Stalag 2 or Stalag 4).
