Earlier this month I started trying to get some Hi-Key macro stacks and single images, my problem was the slave strobe did not have enough power or coverage and the recycle time was terrible.
Now there was no way to get one of my Alien bees behind the subject so I started looking for a remote head that would do the trick, I found one but it was not within my budget, after a bit to thinking I remembered the tubes in the Alien bees just plugged in to the circuit board, a few days and dollars later my supplies came in, first job make an extension cord that plugged into the Alien bee head and onto the flash tube easy pezy, next came the "board " to hold the tube, The board 1/2" black acrylic plus 1/8" white acrylic glued together, then three 6.5 mm holes for the strobe tube to mount in, then plug the extension onto the connectors ,
The first problem was the high was way too harsh enter heat resistant diffusion paper two layers.
below are the results, plus the setup.
From the stacked image I need to work on controlling the spill from the back light!!!
The top strobe upper left, was disconnected for the session

Light #2 was also shut off

The black splotches are from the acrylic cement and the white being translucent but don't affect the reflectance

High key doesn't really work for me on these, Frank. Awesome setup you have there!

I hope that setup is not between you and your bathroom, Frank, when you wake up in the middle of the night. Anyway, it's awesome.

Other than the stand for the Strobe head the rest is mounted on a table on wheels, but it is in a room with nearly immovable objects.
The one good thing about living alone😉 is nothing is in anyones way 😎.
Murphy's food is stored in there and he will only look in the room when Im in there and he needs to be let outside.

You don't live alone, Frank, you have Murphy.

Quite a setup Frank and interesting results.
Thank you Brian
Needs more work, I'll try again when I find a better subject.

Is it you or Murphy that is grousing about the spill, or haze on the image? Seems like that is part of 'high key' for some subjects. Would the editing filter 'De-haze' do what you want?

Once I find a remedy for the spill it will make controlling the light easier without adding to the post work.

That’s quite an interesting setup Frank. Like #2.
I like the effect, maybe a little more contrast?
But I like where you are going.
