I use 10 on desktop and happy with it. Bought laptop with Windows 11 and they force you to use Bing for search engine if you want Chrome. I still have chrome symbol but it goes to Bing. I have had same happen on desktop W10 but know how to change it. W11 has ommitted route to change. I have read it may be possible to change W11 but havn't tried yet, more difficult. Some other apps may not work on W11 and require buying new version, check your apps before getting W11.

I don't have that problem. Chrome is a web browser and is an icon on my desktop and comes right up. Bing is a search engine, Like Google. So I am a little confused as to your problem because you are comparing apples and oranges. Set Chrome as your default and your problem will be gone

There was a dialog box somewhere along the way that asked if we wanted to switch to Bing. We clicked the "No" button and have never heard (or seen) another word on the subject.

Try Firefox instead.

I use 10 on desk top, windows 11 came on laptop. Windows 11 keep changeing browser from Chrome, won't let me keep chrome. I read there is a work around but complicated. Dont like being limited.

Still using Win10 on my Windows laptop. My MacBook uses Win11 (Parallels) but I don't use it a lot. When I use it I have no problems.

Windows keeps trying to coerce me to "upgrade" to Windows 11. My new laptop has 11, my old one has 10. "Photos" in 10 has "Clarity", "Red-Eye Fix", and "Spot Fix", which I often use. They have been REMOVED in Windows 11 Photos! I don't consider this an "Upgrade", so I always refuse Windows 11. Also, the older "Microsoft Picture Manager" included "Resize", which I used a lot to reduce my pixel count when files were too large. "Photos", which replaced MPM, does not have "Resize"! Seems like every recent upgrade has eroded their ability to manage photos!
Windows keeps trying to coerce me to "upgrade... (show quote)

Well that's a bummer! I also use those features in "Photos" fairly often. Just changed my mind about buying a Windows 11 computer. Thanks.

I have a laptop that I installed W11 on. No issues whatsoever. Older desktop isn’t supported; it’s still running W10.

Win 11 does not stop you from keeping 'Chrome' after it has been initially loaded. All you have to do is close 'Edge' when it opens and open Chrome from its desktop or taskbar icon.

There is supposedly a workaround to stop 'Edge' automatically opening but I've not tried it.

I have both icons and can open or close either or both. No conflicts or issues. I installed Win10 within weeks of it’s original issue. Loved it! Same with Win11- love it also.

It's the same for me. Also Chrome will ask you if you want to make it the default browser.

Windows 10 is fully supported.

Windows 11 is Windows 10 (look at the kernel info) with a bunch of new and improved bugs.

Do not upgrade a production computer to Windows 11, Zero benefits, lots of risks.

There is a BIG difference between a production puter and home use puter. Bid difference. That is why in the 'production' , business , enterprise world, they have analysts, tech engineers etc. to set these up.

The things I hate about new Apple computers are the lack of parts and few to no upgrades on memory as everything is now soldered on the motherboard. Like you, I have found it necessary to add a unit for more ports to get things done.

I am waiting till Fall either to get an iMac Mini or iMac 24 all-in-one with M3 processors should last me for a few years and be dam fast.

Ms Windows' OS constant Updates are a great reason to go to Apple computers

Just got my wife an iMac24 with the M1 chip....Let me tell you that unless you are going into production work the M1,M2 or M3 will be faster that you brain or your fingers can move... Even M1 is incredibly quick with NO waiting for anything... adding more ports is a minor prob. My wife resisted for years with the ridiculous windows machines... She is a real convert now. Apple users KNOW !

My wife has been an Apple girl for longer than I have known her. I used PCs for 40 years. She got me a MacBook Pro M1 a couple years ago.

My old Win10 machines were blown away by the speed of the Apple silicon. But there are enough differences between the user interfaces that it may be difficult to switch. I have more or less managed to become bipolar but the muscle memory still produces problems. MacOS is now my default but the old Win10 machine is still in use for the incompatible apps (e.g. IrfanView or Downloader Pro). Parallels on the Mac is Win11 but since I have a separate machine with Win10 that tends to get used for the Windows apps.

Apples to Oranges comparison. Try comparing a new, fast Windows machine to the Mac and you will see that the performance is very similar between the two.
