Some of Chrysler's concept cars over the decades. All shot at this year's Lime Rock Race Track labor Day event, enjoy!

Great shots of top-notch designs, and that lead-colored concept car from '95 was a big whiff for them since they didn't rush it into production 👑👑👑👑👑

Very nice. Lime Rock is about 2 1/2 hours away from where I live. I've got to make the effort to get over there one of these days.

This is a 5 day event over Labor Day weekend Stash, but the car show part of it is only on Sunday of the event. The rest of the days include some racing, antique car racing, time trials, etc. However, they do have some other events throughout the year that you might be interested in. Thanks!

Apparently they thought about it Joe but realized it would take too much work to bring it into production. The suspension, chassis, engine, transaxle, really didn't fit the looks of the car, and were mostly slapped together from existing inventory and enough to throw a sexy body over it. In keeping with the art deco-like European designs of the late thirties / early forties they decided to go with a straight 8 choice for the motor. Of course, at the time, Chrysler did not have one so they kludged 2 Neon 4 cylinders engines together to form an 8 cylinder, hardly as exciting as one that would have been found on a Bugatti or Talbot Lago from the period it was trying to emulate. Other than outrageous looks the car really didn't cut the mustard, and it's performance didn't fit it's image.

I always enjoy the designers efforts and the producers willingness to show off the concept cars.

So sorry I couldn't join you Vin. Looks like I missed a good one. I've got a 1:18 die cast model of that Atlantic. Love to have seen it up close and personal.

Ray, let me just say I'd only give the show a 6 overall. Maybe I'm a little spoiled by past LR shows where there were tons of true classics, but other than a handful of these concept cars from Chrysler and some old MG's, sadly, there were few. And considerably less cars overall compared to their past shows. MG's, Chrysler concepts, and hemi powered cars were featured, and at the risk of unintentionally offending some of our British friends and MG lovers I can honestly say I've never been a fan. There were no hotrods or custom cars, per se, I guess that's ok for this kind of show. I probably shot half the amount of shots I normally take at this show. But, I will say, you can always find something to shoot, between a taillight and a hood mascot, there's always something.

Great set!!!!Vinnie
I remember The DeSoto Adventure coming out in the mid fifties or early sixties, big, beautiful and powerful but not even a hint of the concept car in the design.

thanks so much Frank! At some point in the mid and later fifties the Adventurer became a very powerful car like the 300 Chrysler, hemi powered with dual 4 barrel carbs!

haha, sounds like a plan, nothing like a dual cowl with a separate windshield to keep the "noise" down!! Thanks
