Not a fan of the “new” UHH structure

Wow! So many complaints from so many people. I complained at first but as Linda from Maine suggested, just click on "Home" at the top of the page. There are your selected topics in the same order as before. UHH should have made it clear that the old "layout is still there for us old timers. All it takes, is a singe click.

This is topic #18 on the subject, though I don't have them in order.

Linda,
Too many people threatening to leave UHH!!! 😳…. I think it’s time for you to re-post one of your educational primers on how to use the UHH forum without relying on the Digest. And post it in all 18 topics addressing this subject.

I still get a newspaper. That is not how it is laid out.

I just thought of a great idea. Rather than spending a lot of time sifting through a large pile of documents, why not divide the large pile into smaller piles by subject matter. There could be a pile for people who are mostly interested in looking at other people's photos. A pile for people seeking to sell or buy equipment. Another for people looking for general photography discussion. Create as many small piles as necessary and let people go directly to the pile that interests them. In this fast-paced world we live in, that would save a lot of time and be much more efficient than sorting through one large pile.

Nah, that would be too easy.

Already done; the “piles” are the UHH forum “sections”…..

I just went back and tried that. What I found was a mixture of new subjects and old subjects. When I looked at the next page, I found that it included thousands of pages. I just want to look at the new subjects. Why not show them first and let someone that wants to look back do that at the end of the list of new subjects? Is that too complicated? Why make it more complicated?

I also hate the new format. Can’t find anything. I’m not gonna waste my time, routing through all of the mixed subject messages to find the ones I want!

Looks like we’re going to lose a lot of dues paying members.

I doubt that. I don't think the UHH will lose a single member due to this change in the digest.

Did you really miss the sarcasm in my statement?

I agree that this new format is a degradation. It has no structure. I’ve been a UHHer for many years and enjoyed the original format. May we please return to it. Thank you

Ditto- new structure is a waste of time. I can live without it.

Not a member who counts, anyway. Someone who comments 50 or 100 times a year is complaining about their wasted time with the new format? Give me a break

Ha! That’s a really good point! Other than a few very unobtrusive ads, UHH puts a lot of time and effort into maintaining this site at no cost to us users. I understand their reasoning in making the new format and since there’s a simple go around for it, maybe the naysayers should seek another such forum or try setting up their own.

But, but, but Linda, how will we survive without their membership fees?
