Agreed. 120998 serial number falls in the 1933 CHROME Leica III numbers BUT that's for "Chrome" not "Black" that this one is UNLESS they mean the chrome bottom and top whereas perhaps the black model has black top and bottom. "Veddy interestink."
I DID look it up and indeed the black models had black top and bottom. I remember years ago reading that eliminating the reflective chrome allowed one to be more unobtrusive when taking "secret" pictures. Good for early paparazzies! Some 7000 chrome models were produced and only 580 black.
