Yesterday I was in South Central Idaho in the Twin Falls area to meet my nephew who had come to a gathering on a ranch near the small town of Bliss, ID. In my travels I stopped along the Snake River near Hagerman where I found numerous damselflies doing what they seem to do best in creating new damselflies as well as spiders, different plants, mushrooms, etc. It ended up being a pretty good day for photography.
Some of these damselflies are not in perfect focus, sorry about that, as they were in constant motion and flying. But I found their shadows underneath were very interesting.

The blue colour on these is spectacular.
The life and times of "Damselflies in Action." Great title of a kid's book

Thank you very much Brenda. I have read, in the world of birds it is the males that are more brightly attired. I wonder if something similar takes place in the insect world. Something to ponder for a few seconds.

I wonder if the female ever thinks, "Let go of me...Not today, I have a headache!"

Thank you sippy for the comment. I had the same idea while photographing and watching these things do their thing. Occasionally but fairly often it appeared that just when the two were quietly doing their mating thing the male would simply yank the female and fly a few inches from where they were. A few seconds later he would do the same thing. I actually thought to myself, that seems rude. It did not look like a pleasant experience for the woman, um, er, ahhh, female.
Another thing and you can think I am crazy if you like. Have you ever noticed that the males have a face, wait for it, that somewhat has the appearance of a human face? Apart from the HUMONGOUS eyes if looked upon from the side it could almost be somebody's uncle Joe. Just a thought.

I love this set Dennis. First rate shots. All appear to be Tule Bluets (Enallagma carunculatum).

Actually Gary. While surveying damsels I have seen them drop to the ground and pretend to be dead until the males leave!
