My walkaround on my Z6II is the 24-70 f4 that came with my first Z6, plenty sharp and light. I've been eyeballing the 24-200 (a friend photog, also a Z owner highly recommends this one) but really like the semi-fast f4 and I'm not opposed to switching to my 70-200 f2.8 if I need "casual" reach (and this one might be the best Z glass I own). And, yes, the 24-120 f4 would be a great choice, too.

I love the Z 50mm f1.8 on my Z5. Recent image attached using that combination.

Hi Buster - see you're new, so get ready to be bamboozled by the Nikon info about to come your way ! You're going to have to experience it to be able to comprehend what's about to hit you, be much more explicit when you post questions, respond regularly to the replies you get (many and varied) in order to maintain interest in your post, and most of all, don't buy because of all the 'I use x lens' which, I see, you've already received, however well-meaning !

Yes, there'll be plenty excellent info, but you'd perhaps do best just to take it in, consider it against you own (most important wants/needs) and make your own independent and considered choices.

You ask for 'lens info for your Z5' - not enough info to help me, or most, help you. But ya' gotta get started somewhere. You'll notice that I'm not even on the same continent. But there's more out there for you than just the USA !

Best I'm prepared to do to assist is to say 'get stuck into your product via well-established websites that give you fact'. Here's my starter list ......

Wish you luck from afar !

What subject matter do you photograph? Example, do you want a 'specialist' lens for something like a specific sport in low light that you want to produce stunning results?

I couple my Z5 with my DX 18-300 f 1:3.5-6.3G lens and the FTZ adapter. Works great. There is a Z lens 24x200 which probably would work equally well.

Yikes, much too vague! What do you have? What have you tried? What do you shoot (or want to shoot)? Budget? New/used? If you don’t specify, you will get a firehose of responses, as well as many, like me, who want more information. Welcome to UHH! Most of us want to help, but specific requests get the best answers.

My favorite Z lenses are the 24-200 and 50mm 1.8. Of the two, the 24-200 lens gets the most use. It's an extremely versatile lens and performs well. The 50mm 1.8 is the sharpest lens I've ever owned.

Give a little bit of information when asking about lenses. To mention a camera and ask for advice on lenses without mentioning what type of subjects you regularly shoot is a very vague question. Lenses like those that have been mentioned here, like the 24-120 are an all purpose workaround lens.
Perhaps that is what you need but to give you an example, if you are into portraits you could be better served with the 85mm f1.8.

As has been said, the 24-120 or the 24-200 are flexible all around lenses, limited only by shooting in low light since both are pretty slow. With the cropped sensor of the Z50 the 24mm will have a field of view of a 35mm lens, not that bad for landscape photography.
Be more specific next time and in addition to asking for a lens mention the type of photography you intend to do. You will get much better responses.

I wouldn’t recommend a mediocre DX lens on a full-frame camera. You’re reducing your resolution to 10mp.

Good point! Time to move up to a Z lens.
