The muscle cars of the 60's all required high test fuel to run properly, as do performance vehicles of today. Engines used to "ping" when starved for octane. High test was more expensive then, and it still is. Was a dime more, now at least a buck. The cost of pleasure has increased. Possibly explains young folk's liking of bicycles.
