Don't recall Air Raid sirens. In our town it goes off at 1:30 PM on Sunday and it bugs me. If my Aunt from Germany was alive and came here. She would be petrified.

These were air raid drills done in schools - just within the school. We'd either get under our desks or go out and face the wall in the hall. "No talking!"

Our school didn't have them. That sound hits on Sunday it rattles me but we are near China Lake Warfare Base, Edwards AFB, and 4 more bases. I love the Fighter Jets.

Yes. I remember from parochial school having those air-raid drills and students hiding under their desk.

I also remember that word from the Bible, regarding marriage:
"What therefore God has joined together, let no man put asunder."

That idea does comes from the Bible, but here’s the actual verse that appears in Matthew 19:6:

“So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”

That’s a more modern translation. The King James Version many of us were raised on of Matthew 19:6 is in fact “ Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder”

Yes, there is lots of variation between Bibles.

By the way - were Adam and Eve married? Was there a best man? Any rings?

Fairfax OK has a siren that goes off every day at noon. It lets everyone know its lunch time.

pmorin & wireloose: The only official Bible recognized by the Church is the Douay-Rheims version, which is the only one coming from the Latin Vulgate, without any modernization of words or content. See attached image right from the Douay-Rheims. You can do a search of anything within the Bible, from either the Whole Bible, the Old Testament, or the New Testament at https://www.drbo.org/.

This only approved translation was done by one of the greatest scholars of the Church, St. Jerome, who translated the Bible into Latin between A.D. 383 and 404.

We did same from about second to sixth grade (elementary school) 40 miles east of NYC.
As I recall, the instructions were: Get your asunder the desk - AND Kiss It Goodbye.

Oh, sure, but the radiation would hit you later. By then, it would be your parents' problem.

Depends on how close you were to ground zero.
CNS radiation toxicity hits in 6 hours. Death in 3 days.
