Lens hood for Canon RF35mm f/1.8 Macro STM lens

I purchased a Canon RF35mm f/1.8 Macro STM lens and found that it did not come with a lens hood. After doing some research online, I found that Canon is only supplying lens hoods on their RF L series lenses. Now what is up with that? Come on Canon! What are you trying to do, drive away your long-time customers over a few $’s for a lens hood?

As a result, I have purchased three (3) third party lens hoods. The first two (2) were Amazon.com : RF 35mm Tulip Flower Lens Hood Shade Fit for Canon RF 35mm F1.8 Macro is STM Lens Replaces Canon EW-52 Hood on Canon EOS R6 R5 RP R Cameras and both fit but, were very hard to go on and were returned. The last one was a JCC LH-W65B which was recommended by someone on YouTube. This hood is designed to fit a Canon RF24mm f/1.8 Macro STM lens but fits with a little effort.

I hope this is of some help to other Carno RF 35mm lens owners.

KEH has the OEM Canon hood, used but in Excellent condition, for less than $30.

The OEM lens hood is not tulip shaped, so the aftermarket version will probably not give the best results.

Canon never provided hoods for non L-series lenses, from 1987 onward. Nothing new in that product approach.

Prior to EOS I had an FT-QL (1968) with 50mm f/1.8 and AE-1P (1985) with 50mm f/1.4. Neither lens came with a lens hood.
